COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Taste 11/8 Bottle. Looks: Amber with a nice thick head. Aroma: Fruit and pine hop nose, with a little malt aroma. Taste: Heavy pine and floral hops, very long lasting on the tongue and very drinkable. Lingering spice.

Ruination is crisp and elegant. Stone put out another masterpiece with Ruination. It pours a blonde honey color with a tall beige cap. Aroma of lemon and a little herbal. The flavor is amazing. Your palate is greeted with crisp lemon and herbal goodness (lemongrass maybe coriander). This is one of the most solid IPA's around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The first thing I notice is the hoppy aroma. The taste is nothing short of a excellent. Has a strong pine and citrusy bitterness, that is incredibly crisp and refreshing. One of my favorites.

On tap the the Most Arrogant Bash (Barleys in Greenville SC). [This is the special Double Dry Hopped (Calypso) version. Lumped together here, they are not the saem. I had this at a Stone sponsored event, with the founder present, and this was on the beer menu as a separate item from Ruination IPA.] Pour is a somewhat light amber with a very very durable head. Smells suspiciously hoppy but .. Heck yeah, this is really hoppy; could ruin ones taste buds for any beer that follow. The bitterness, however, is somewhat controlled by a judicious use of sweet malts. Still, of course, moderately bitter. O: Stone has managed to take a very hopped beer and increase the hops component without making it harsh or more than slightly challenging.

Pours a hazy light amber color. Head is minimal and white in color. Nose is strong and almost pungent with notes of raisins, citrus fruits and pine or spruce. Taste starts off with a strong bitterness, followed by a light sweetness from the malts. The finish is long and mild. Palate is fairly lively with lots of small bubbles. This is a pretty intense drink, more like a double IPA or barley wine than just an IPA.

January 2010. 22 oz. bottle. A bomb of an imperial IPA. This is one of the few out there that sets the bar. Complex, well made IPA that is just hard to beat.

Amber with lacy head. Bitter, piney with lingering aftertaste. Bitterness quite manageable.

Strong grapefruit aroma, and lots of pine if not as much as I remember. Hazy golden color. Extremely bitter, although I don’t think it the most so I’ve tried. Beyond the hop knot there is some malt presence, but it comes off and starchy and dried out. Drying out is what this beer does to you, so no more than one at a time is recommended.

Heavy amounts of floral and citrus hops blended nicely with loads of caramel. Light amounts of rye bread and pine. Great creamy feel. A well above average IPA.
