Commercial Description:
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Stone Ruination IPA ABV: 7.7% IBU: 100+ Volume: 1 PT 6 FL OZ Glass: Okocim curved .5L Purchased at: Hopewell Valley Wine Consumed on: 02/11/2008 at 11:40 pm first impression: A very nice lighter colored amber ale. Differs in depth at edge. Head is nice and thick and aroma is spicy and permeating. Flowers are everywhere. Nice lace. No question of its power upon first sip - rich and full of bitterness. Disposition of an angry old man, but balanced with flavor, depth, and character in loads. One of my favorite beers. Aroma/Olfactory: A nutty, roasted flavor of malt, just slightly charred. Resinous hops, sticky and flowery. The hops dominate here. There is something hinting at sawdust or a woodworking scent. Its beautifully layered. A medicinal tinge loops into licorice and raisin and leads to a smoky wooden taste. Visuals/Appearance: A light stained walnut appearance and flavor doesn’t travel far from it. Sculptural. This is a quiet, clear and crisp ale. More about taste than visuals, but not bad to look at. A very white head, flattens in time, and clings nicely in lace. Taste/Flavor: A slight sweetness and overwhelmingly bitter, with 100+ IBUs. Tasty sour aftertaste hangs on back of the tongue with a little bit of salt. This would go great with a curry. Malt keeps up with the hops, surprisingly. Palate/Tactile: A light body, despite the wallop. This ale is slick with alcohol. Soft and quiet carbonation finishes with a bitter impact that is worth savoring. second impression: Overall, this brew is fantastic - if you like bitter, you should not miss Ruination. Be forewarned, all others will pale in character afterwards. This should be the last brew in a session.

One of the most beautiful looking beers I’ve seen. Crystalline orange-yellow with continuous streams of fine bubbles and a pillowy, clinging head. This is all about the piney hops -- lots on the nose, lots on the tongue. This sits on top of the classic "solid malt backbone." Finishes sharp and crisp, with a lingering warming sensation.

cloudy slightly orange color white head. orange citrus aroma with some resiny pine. Crisp piney hop flavors - not overly resiny in flavor. First beer we tried tonight was the Moylans dbl IPA and this Stone is (IMHO) much better. Much better balance with the hops - not as astringent or overly toasty & resiny. This is a real good drinking IPA at a reasonable ABV.

Pours hazy dark ornage with off white head. Big citrus and pine aromas. Lots of hop bitterness balanced somewhat by big maltiness. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. Medium body with average carbbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. Very nice.

Pours a hazy copper / zinc chromate. Small dimimishing white head. Aroma of lemon and caramel corn, piney and herbal. There is some sorness up front, with a long hoppy finish. Finely balanced with differing hop styles all in one draw. If I had a suggestion, the palate need a bit more "slipperynes".

Clear copper color, big frothy off white head. Powerful hop aroma, grassy and perfumy. Robust malt holds up the hops with hints of caramel. Intense rush of lingering hops in the finish. Nice Impy IPA.
