COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Bottle, and on tap from Stone. Liquid marijuana. Loaded with more hops than should be legal. Excellent crisp refreshing hoppy bitter flavor, yet it never feels unbalanced or overwhelming. My favorite Stone beer for the warm weather.

Tap at Brewdog. Golden with clean frothy white head. Tons of citrus in the aroma: grapefruit, pineapple, orange .Some florals. Caramel malt is present, but an afterthought. Ultra hoppy. The taste even more so. Initially sweet, with some caramel before hops take over. Hop-bomb explodes. Blasting the palate with awesome bitter citrus. Grapefruit and orange rind. Creeping, evolving bitterness. It sneaks in, undisclosed, strangling tastebuds. On the beer spectrum (hoppy-balanced-malty) this veers so far to the extreme-hop side, that enthusiasts are in danger of being outed as hop-fascists. Awesome beer.

Pours an amber/copper color. Aroma is faint, but has hints of hops. To the palate it is very bitter and long lasting on it. Very solid dry hopped IPA.

Pours a hazy amber with minimal white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and some sweetness mixed in of vanilla and caramel. Taste was rather off on this and I’m not sure if I got an old bottle or not. Taste was extreme lemon up front, honestly tasted like lemon dawn dish soap. I’d like to try a fresh one to compare, but I’ll put my rating in now based on what I experienced. Still wasn’t terrible, good amount of bitter and dryness.

Poured into Dogfish IPA glass. Pours an almost opaque orangey gold with a sudsy head. Deep hop aromas with hints of grapefruit. The taste offers an expert course in delightful bitterness. Medium body with high carbonation. Perhaps not as complex as other brews but overall a spectacular Double IPA and easy to see why it is a staple for many. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer has a beautiful golden amber color and aroma of fresh picked lemons. Strong super heavy hop bite which smacks you hard. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves good lacing. Resin, citrus oil, pepper and pine needle hops sit over a caramel malt base to create the aroma. Potent peppery and grapefruit hops up front soften into a touch of preserved lemon. Quite rich caramel malt gives it plenty of mid-palate backbone, with razor sharp pepper, grapefruit and pine hops in the finish and a lingering bitter aftertaste. This is a seriously good IIPA, with lashings of bitterness and enough malt to balance them. A deserving classic.

Bottle. A- Caramel, malty, biscuits, sweet, doughy. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Very bitter, caramel, bready. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, lingering bitter finish. O- My bottle had almost a year of age on it which definitely brought out the biscuit and sweet bread notes, but it was still bitter as hell. I may be the only person on Earth who thinks Stone is far from the best brewer there is. I am yet to have anything by them that isn’t aggressive as hell and just flat out overrated. Thanks, but no thanks.

lemme just say this up front: this IS the standard bearer for west coast IPAs. this baby slips and slides on a massive hop bed between the IPA and double IPA line IMO. huge grapefruit, pine and orange chewy resin. sticky icky bitter aint no quitter. thank god you will not find your thick candy bar malted milk in this brew (yes im calling you out colorado IIPA brewers! ;)) however the malt that is supplied is wonderfully creamy but must labor mightily to support the massive hop drop. and labor it does to wonderful effect. west coast represent!
