3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Now this is a very well self explained beer. Pours a hazy orange with thick white head. Aroma of hops, hops, hops, and some grass and citrus. Flavor is dominated by hops, but grass and caramel are apparent also. Strong bitter aftertaste sticks around for a while. A nice brew, but not one that I would drink very often.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
600ml bottle poured in an ordinary glass.
A: Pours an orange to amber color. Clear. Forms a small to medium, creamy, fluffy white head. Medium retention and many lacings left
S: Absolutely delicious flowery, citrus, very grassy and piny hops in the nose. What would you expect? Caramel malts and honey to compose...
T: Again, delicious, sligthly sweet upfront. Caramel, sweet malts, honey, pine, pineapple, grass, fruit esters, earth, perfect
M: Medium to heavy body, medium carbonation, very smooth texture and mouth sensation to such IBU and ABV. Pleasant bitter aftertaste
O: Absolutely drinkable. Excellent Stone quality beer. A liquid poem to the glory of the hop! No more, no less...

650 mL bomber. Dated BB 04/14/14, but beggars can’t be choosers in Canada. Pours clear and pale with a slight orange tint, a rocky head of white. Big citrus on the nose, tangerine, grapefruit, tropical mango, guava and a bit of resinous pine. Light bready malts that stay out of the way of the beautiful hops. Dry and quenching at 8.2%, all too drinkable with a fading bitter finish. Moderate body and carbonation. Now to find a fresh one!

Bottle trade with my brother in-law. Slightly cloudy/ cleanish yellow, frothy white head, specs of lace. Nose is a piney hop. Tastes malty sweet, caramel, but the bitterness is the star here. Citrus and mainly pine.

Light gold in color, slippery white lace. Fringe of head sustained. Pine hop aroma, floral, grass, lemon zest. Toasted taste, sweet, overly so. A little bready. Sticky palate but sloppy on the end from the residue. It is bitter, whew! 100 IBUs. Sure is.

Aroma: Medium-high hops, resiny, fruity, guava, citrus. Medium bread crusts.
Appearance: Body: Clear, dark gold. Head: Medium, white, good retention, lacing.
Flavour: High bitterness, Medium sweetness. Medium-high hop flavours, resin, Medium-light bready. Slight roastiness. Dry finish with lingering strong bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Slight warming. Medium body. Medium, creamy carbonation. Slick/oily feeling in mouth afterwards.
Overall: Definitely hop orientated! Aggressive and bitter, but not harsh. My palate may be ruined, but it was worth it. A great example!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle with a Best By date of 11/18/2014.
Aroma is rather hop forward with a lot of grapefruit and pine resin. Some woodsy notes with some light orange and stone fruit. Light cracker malt notes. Not as fruity as the regular IPA.
Pours a slightly cloudy, golden orange with a small, moderately thick, slightly off-white head that displays decent retention as it recedes steadily to the edges. Moderate lacing and medium long legs.
Flavor has some light sweetness with some cracker malt notes. Fairly high bitterness with some medium light alcohol notes. Flavor has more citrus, though still mostly grapefruit than the aroma has. Moderate pine resin and woodsy hop notes, but less than in the aroma. A slight spiciness to the hop character as well.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low to medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a decent DIPA but I’m not a huge fan of the hop character; it has too much pine resin and woodsy Noyes and not enough fruitiness. This is my typical complaint about Stone beers.
