In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is “A Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,” then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

So much hop everything. Dark golden with a fluffy head that lasted a long time. Dark fruits in the aroma. Flavors were very sweet fading into bitter hop loveliness. Yummy yummy stuff!

In the minority here but wtf!?!? This was a travesty and it's solid ratings amaze me as to the effect name brand has on ratings sometimes. I have yet to have a bad experience with stone until now. This was a syrupy boozy mess that was a struggle to get through. Ended up being a drain pour. I wonder if age would do this thing justice? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This was not an easy drinking brew. Very thick with a killer amount of hops. The alcohol is big too. I prefer their Ruination IPA to this variation. This reminded me of Dogfish Head 120 minute. Which is also not an easy drinking beer.

Pours a nice dark honey color with an off-white head. Aroma of fruit, pine, malt. Flavor matches aroma with addition of caramel and has a bitter hoppy finish.

On tap at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. Pours a clear, bright orange with a creamy looking, off, white head that laces. Aroma has big, semi sweet notes of resin, pine, citrus, grapefruit, and some alcohol. Taste is a big bitter but with some sweetness. Huge, resin, citrus, pine, and grapefruit, with a bit of grainy/breadyness at the end. Very little alcohol taste but a bit of warmth. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Big resin in the mouth with a semi Fri finish. Overall probably the biggest IIPA I’ve ever had. Huge resin and pine flavours.

The aroma is hops, citrus, floral, grass and spruce. The color is a cloudy copper/orange with very little head fully diminishing and no lacing to speak of. The taste is heavy bitter. The body is medium to full, the texture creamy and a little slick, the carbonation lively and the finish a long bitter. You get hit with a biting citrus and a big bitter finish.

(Bottle) pours orange red with an off-white head. The aroma holds uber grapefruit, pine and white flowers. Pretty slim malt base. Very Stone-ish. The flavour light sweet, near heavily bitter and light acidic with notes of grapefruit, pine and white flowers. Fairly tight malt, crackers and white sugar. The mouthfeel is clean och round with near medium carbonation. Medium bodied.

Bottle courtesy of GT2. About 1.5 months old. Pours hazy reddish golden with a frothy beige head that leaves lots of spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is tiny sweet and slightly fruity with grapefruit juice, pine needles, freshly cut grass, unripe mango, alcohol, orange zest and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter and fruity with grapefruit juice, lots of pine needles, freshly cut grass, resinous wood, unripe mango and pineapple, moist soil, orange zest and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, slightly astringent, slightly oily bitter, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. finish is tiny sweet, bitter and tiny fruity with grapefruit juice, unripe mango, pine needles, freshly cut grass, orange zest and lemon zest. Seems to have more of a sugar base than a malt base which I guess is fine in this case. Enjoyable even considering the high ABV. Nice…
