In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is “A Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,” then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

Pours a deep orange with a thick soapy white head. Surprisingly bready, caramelly aroma with some fruits underneath. Taste is immediately fruity with a hoppy backbone. Malt and hops balanced pretty well, but it was very sweet for a DIPA. But that could be because my bottle was past its enjoy by date, I’m not sure. This is definitely a more extreme version of Ruination. It tastes just like it but even bolder. I’m surprised that’s even possible. Oh, and it got me waaaaaaaaaaaay drunker than Ruination. Like wow. At 11% ABV this is one beast of a beer.

Bottle from Kris Wines, Holloway. Honey coloured pour with a white head. Tons of citrus, tropical fruit, pepper spice, light herb and sacks of hops in the nose. Shed loads of citrus, sweet fruit, spice, caramel and bitter hops in the flavour. Warming alcohol, caresses the gullet. Huge hop finish. Lovely stuff!

650 ml bottle. Pours a deep copper color with moderate head. Aromas of candied fruit, dough, sweet malts, and light pine. Flavors of toffee, grapefruit, pine, dry candied fruit and more sweet malts. Light bitter finish. Great stuff

Cloudy, orange/red pour with a thin white head, which dissipates fairly quickly. Grapefruit, piney, malt aromas, a bit tropical too. Taste is big, caramel with loads of pine, resin, grapefruit, a huge whack of bitterness, boozy warmth, a little sweetness, that bitterness and booze carries right through. Like a pleasant punch in the face.

200ml at Brewdog DogHouse, Glasgow (£4.40):
Another excellent Stone IPA with tonnes of bitterness balanced against sweet malts & sticky caramel flavours. A complex beer with a nice array of hop flavours & bitterness coming through on top of a full body that was easy to drink despite the strong alcohol content.

Darker pale beer. IPA smell with a slight amount of BO. Creamy head. Rototiller from the start. Plows across my buds. Rude palate. Mouth coating. Wrecks al my taste senses. Just too much for me, wew. So many ABV for such a little price. Yucky, I think I’m getting dizzy near the end.

Really nice citrus aroma. Poured with a nice head into a snifter. Nice IIPA flavor - buttery citrus.

Had this one on tap, after the Stone Enjoy By 31-10-15, at Ernie´s Tin Bar, Petaluma - and I was about ready for anything. Powerfully and aggressively hopped throughout, but still kind of balanced by the rich and fairly sweet malty base. Good stuff - when you´re ready for it.

Shared from a brown bomber bottle into a snifter glass. It poured a slightly hazy golden colour with white foam and lace. Belgian Tripel traits—grainy with heightened pepper and clove yeast phenols— but sticky sweet with unpleasant alcoholic heat. The larger-than-life, dank, grapefruity American hops didn’t help matters, in my opinion. Mushy, syrupy mouthfeel, not well-attenuated nor well-balanced. Disliked it, didn’t even finish the bottle. I sure don’t know how this get such high ratings.

Flaska i new york. Mörkt bärnstensfärgad med vitt skum. Söt lite sliskig doft av karamell och frukt. Kryddig och söt. Lite stickig munkänsla.
