In June 2012, we celebrated the 10th birthday of our notoriously mega-hopped double IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, with the release of a very special version that was even bigger and, incredibly, even hoppier than the original. If Stone Ruination IPA is “A Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop,” then Stone Ruination Tenth Anniversary IPA was an amped-up heavy metal version of that ode delivered with the force of a sledgehammer. Luckily for us, our fans love loud and aggressive brews, specifically when copious amounts of humulus lupulus are involved. The original release of this beer was so instantly beloved by those who dared try it

Poured from a 22oz bottle. Absolutely beautiful, deep honey/amber with a small white head. Aroma is, as expected, citrus and pine, but not as intense for such a hoppy brew. Slightly sticky, light lacing that eventually slides off. Definitely not for those who don’t like bitter, but for those of us who do it’s a treat as it’s quite heavy on that point. Slight alcohol taste comes through, but does not detract. Full body and lively on the palate with a long, bitter finish. Stone Brewery delivered a real treat with this one.

Draft at Good Dog. Deep orange amber pour that started with thick layer of tiny white bubbles. Lots of lace. Complex mix of earthy, floral and citrus hops with a clean thick dark toffee malt background. Rich dark amber fruit. Apricot pits. Tangerine peels. Autumn leaves. Figs. Purple passionfruit. Kiwi fuzz. Celery hearts. Mango skin. Clear candy toys. Spicy chocolate caramels. Big hop flavors perfectly balanced (and not overshadowed) by smooth medium-dark caramel malts. Tremendous palate. Impressively well constructed. Pretty much as good as Imperial IPAs get!

This was an amazing IPA, so many tropical notes fro pineapple to grapefruit on top of piny resin, loads of citrus as well with a not so bitter finish from the amount of hops that are present

Mango, pineapple, and lilly nose. Clear amber, headless. Tripel sec, tangerine, grapefruit, orange. Medium body, mouthfeel is a bit harsh, rather hot. Very fruity and delicious, but texture isn’t good.

Radiant orange amber. Large creamy off-white head. Ultra inviting aroma. Everything you would expect. Super hoppy. Sweet and juicy. Well balanced bitterness. So drinkable still! I thought I would find something really abrasive here but was met with beautiful nectar instead. Coulda easily finished the bomber solo. More please..

Pours a deep orange and slightly hazy with a small white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, floral, and maybe a bit of tropical fruit mixed in. Taste is bursting with hops and grapefruit really shines. Some pine comes out too and a mild dankness. Medium body and the 10.8 is hidden fairly well. Bottled 6-30 and drank 7-4 so that was one fresh beer!

Bottle: 2014: clear, deep golden hue, with medium head and great lace. Massive lift. Fresh hops and almost smells like wet hopping. Floral, tropical, ripe and not reductive or rubbery. Loads of malt but hard to see under the hops. Off dry, not sour, and high bitterness. Lads of flavor, balanced, rich, long and even. Just a massive beer with Huge flavor. Classic west Coast double IPA.

On draught at Bailey’s Taproom. Deep dark golden color. Aroma is pine, cherry, and tropical citrus. Taste is pine resin, dark cherry, passionfruit, pineapple, and sweet grapefruit. The hops are aggressive but not bitter whatsoever. Sweet citrus and cherry finish, with some warming.

Bottle. Copper color, clear. Light, creamy head. Citrus, orange hoppy aroma. Very hoppy - citrus, malt in the background. High bitterness that lingers but in a good way. Drink this one slow - it's a heavy hitter.
