COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isnít your everyday saison. Itís our saisonó100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

The "strange" or should I say "unique" after taste seems easy to explain although Iím sure the reasons are more complicated. This is what happens when hops overpowers a traditional, delicate flavor base like saison. A traditional spice blend becomes something completely different in the presence of too much bitterness. It tastes medicinal, way out of balance and, in my opinion, is a failure.

Poured from bottle. Clear, golden yellow with a 3-finger off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of orange, lemon, lavender, and malt. Taste of lemon, lavender, spices (mainly cloves, black pepper and cardamon), grass, orange, malt and floral hops. Finishes with a spicy, cloves and pepper, bite. Medium body medium/high carbonization. Plenty of flavor in this one, but it is a bit spicy for a saison. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Enjoy by: 09/05/14. A slightly hazy pale straw pour with a thick and fluffy beige head. Tangy oranges, sour lemons, zesty citrus rinds, candi sugar, bubblegum, bananas, cloves, and floral notes dominate the pleasing aroma. Goes down medium-bodied and crisp. Sweet upfront in the taste with plenty of candi sugar and caramel. Bananas follow. Tangy oranges, dried apricots, Golden Delicious apples, and zesty citrus rinds finish things off. Grainier than anticipated. Kinda chalky at the end with a peppery bite. Herbal throughout along with just a hint of funk. Tasty stuff.

Pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of floral lavender, citrus fruits, herbal notes up front with hints of banana esters and clove phenols. Taste is cloves and bananas mixed with some herbal and floral flavors as well as black pepper and red apple. Kind of all over the place for a saison but complex. However again it has a great nose but the body seems to let up. Worth a try though.

On tap at Craft Beer Market, pours a hazy pale golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is very spicy, with clove, cardamom, and black pepper. Flavour brings out lots of spices, Belgian yeast, apples, and banana. Not authentic at all, but rather very spicy, tangy and peppery. Good attempt for what it is. Decent.
