In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isn’t your everyday saison. It’s our saison—100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Pours amber with a quickly fading head. Aroma of bananas, spicy phenols, soft farmhouse notes, herbal hops, hints of cardamon. Somewhat hefe- and wit-like. Spicy, lightly hoppy and yeast flavours, reasonably dry though. Some earthy Saison notes.

Tap @ T. S. McHugh’s: Clear gold with a white head. Liquorice aroma with lots of spices and similar flavors to follow. Not bad.

Bottle from Stone Bar in Asagaya. Pours a clear gold with a nice soapy head that lingers. Wonderful saison yeast nose with some lemon, white pepper, coriander and cardamom aromas present. Nice carbonation with a medium body. Nice light bitterness with lots of spiciness on the palate. Lemon stands out as it warms with a bit of berry, but best enjoyed relatively quickly. Super refreshing beer!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy hazy yellow color with a bready yeasty flavor. Really good easy drinking beer with a nice complexity. Very good

At revo. Super nice to have an actual beer in an actual place with real live humans. This sucker is massively spicy with an almost added hot pepper quality. Stiff lemon meanness, hard on the herbal side, borderline wit taste. The fatness of people is nauseating. Fat is almost as gross as smokers but not quite. I’d love to round them all up and make them disappear. Enjoyable beer that was harsher than expected and that was cool.

Bottle from Williamstown Fine Wines. Biscuit and wheat malt profile, you get the lemon and lavender from garden then as the beer warms some honey and pepper. Nice riff on the style.

Bottle from Winooski beverage warehouse. Clear gold amber pour with thin white head. Aroma is quite fruity, estery, light banana notes, nice spicy yeast profile, light pepper and clove, bubblegum is quite present. Taste is lightly spicy, nice grainy flavor, better than the aroma, nice spicy yeast phenols, a bit heavy for the style however. Palate is med bodied with good carbonation. Overall not bad, not repulsive or even difficult to drink but definitely lacks in brightness that makes saisons such powerful quenchers.

Twelve ounce bottle from Stone variety pack. Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a foamy white head. Loose, sudsy lacing that struggles a bit to stay on the glass. Floral aroma of fresh herbs and lemon. Zesty flavor with a nice mixture of herbal notes and a hint of funk. Prickly carbonation on the tongue. Very refreshing.

Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a foamy head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, spice, yeasts, and herb aromas. Taste is much the same with herb and yeast flavors with very heavy pepper in the finish. There is a mild amount of herb bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall its too spicy, starts of nice but takes a nose dive in the second half.
