In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isnít your everyday saison. Itís our saisonó100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Bottle. Light yellowish / brown color with a white head. Smell is malty, with a surprisingly nice kick of hops. Taste is similar, easy to drink, lively carbonation, but a good hop kick thrown in. A good take on a good style.

Bottle at Ales & Lager. Yellow copper almost opaque pour. Thin frothy head. Belgian peppery aroma. Taste is very herbal peppery lemongrass almost. Interesting but as hoppy as I hoped.

itís lighter in the body somewhat fizzy and tastes like a soda something like a 7up. there is also a significant Belgian saison flavor going on with a lingering bitter bark like finish. some herbs for sure.

Tap. Pours clear orange with thin white head. Aroma is very spicy, Belgian yeasts. Taste is extremely spicy, baking spices, cloves, banana, lots of black pepper, medium bodied, a bit flat. Okay.

Lemon, pepper and ginger on the nose and then on the palate. Also flavors of light, bright fruit - apricots, maybe cherries. Long peppery, lemon drop finish. Very spicy, very flavorful, not for lovers of subtlety. Iím not one of them. Yum.

An odd aroma - powdery, peppered, light vinegar: somewhat savory. Thereís something in the nose that reminds me of pickled sausage that you get at the truck stop, just more refined. Good 12oz bottle with painted label. Misty, maple-blonde brew with white frogsí eggs head. Lemony, lightly mineral, slight medicinal/herbal tones. Pretty dry, lightly sweet, lightly tangy. Medium mouthfeel, threatens to go íhotí and then buffers out. A screwball beer, but oddly enjoyable. ABC, Bull Run.

8/20/14. 12oz bottle shared by Bill at a VORLAUF meeting. I was kind of surprised that I hadnít had this yet, though I think it is somewhat new. Oh well, here goes. Lightly hazed golden yellow pour, maybe touches of orange (Iím colorblind...) with a decent khaki head. Spice pops the most to me in the aroma, though this sample was getting on the warm side (hey, it does show more that way, right?). Iím not getting much of the supposed added ingredients except maybe a slight citrus pop. Doughy malt flavor jumps out at me followed by another big spicy yeast kick and touches of citrus lingering on my tongue. Not bad, but definitely nothing exciting.

Aroma ia melon, citrus, hops, bread, yeast. Appearance: cloudy yellow, big big airy white head. Taste: cream of tartar. Sounds odd, but its a good thing. Sourdough bread, yeast, some fruit. Chewy. Lemon. Biscuit. Iím all over the place, but i like it. Creamy, lasting, chewy. Statement: i like saison.

From a 12 oz bottle enjoyed at the Outer Banks on a hot day. Pours a deep, hazy lemon curd yellow with a thick white head. Lemon and floral nose. Flavors of a melange of spices -- including clove, cardamom and coriander. Spicy finish. with a hint of tartness.
