COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isn’t your everyday saison. It’s our saison—100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Stone Saison on tap at the CBB Saison Event. Clear gold, weird nose, the taste is lightly funky & too hoppy - not my cup of tea. An ok beer but not such a good saison...

Approximately half of a 12 oz. bottle. Consumed on 6-6-14. "ENJOY BY 09/13/14." "2014 RELEASE." Smells good! Scents of peach, apricot, dry white wine, salt, orange, orange peel, and lemon peel. Refreshing, fruity, appealing aroma. Pours a clear, pale gold with moderate effervescence and a moderate amount of nearly white head. Produces some lacing. Ordinary appearance. Taste is dry, quite spicy, and a bit umami. Dirt, apricot, black pepper, and mineral flavors. Dry aftertaste. Refreshing and a bit lively in the palate. Ordinary palate effects. Overall, Stone Saison brings exactly what one wants from the style, especially if the imbiber prefers dry and spicy examples, as I do. It is quite enjoyable. This is exactly what we have come to expect from Stone: A professional, well above average, and tasty brew. For the record, it is stupid that, as of this writing, this beer is classified as a Spice/Herb/Vegetable and not as a Saison simply because it features a few additives very common in the style.

Bottle poured a golden in color with a coating of white head. Aroma has lavender, sage, light lemon, and yeast. Very herbal overall. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation medium low. Flavor again is herb led, lavender, lemon, yeast, and a bit of pepper into the finish. The herb side comes across as wet and green lending bitterness.

The appearance of this beer is a hazy golden color with a large white head, and the aroma is reminiscent of citrus, Belgian yeast, slight pepper, and a light lavendar hint. The taste is mildly sour, slightly bitter, a touch sweet, and mildly spicy; the palate has a lively carbonation, slick texture obstructed by the fizz on the tongue, sour finish, and a medium body.

Definitely a lot of lemon zest in this, and light notes of the herbs show up too, in a more general sense. Light sour finish, some grass. Bottle from the foodery.

Bottle, date unreadable.
Appearance: Cloudy golden to amber hued with a creamy white head. There’s black sediment in suspension, little particles throughout.
Aroma: The aroma is strong with a big complexity about it. Ground pepper, chamomile, floral notes, lemon, herbal qualities, straw and a mildly sweet maltiness. The aroma leans towards the spices and is rather enjoyable.
Taste: The flavor is as complex as the aroma. What jumps out most are the herbs throughout and the spices. I’m not good at picking out what, but I pick up some ground pepper and chamomile. There’s a hint of malt sweetness and a touch of lemon. The finish lingers of the herbs.
Palate: Near full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It fills up nicely on a sip.
Overall: This is an herb/spice heavy saison but definitely enjoyable. I would definitely enjoy this during the Summer.

Pours a golden yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma is a nice blend of fruit, thyme, and some hops. Flavor is lemon up front, thyme, and a surprising dose of bitterness. The bitterness adds an interesting personality to this style, a Stone touch, but it can also be a bit harsh. Still I really enjoyed this.

12 oz bottle- Pours hazy straw golden with a one finger head that reduces leaving a blanket and some lace. The aroma is strong honeysuckle, ginger, lavender, and lemon. The taste is similar, lemon and lavender up front, I taste ginger and honeysuckle too, hops mellow out what seems like it could have been sweet. Honestly I was expecting more from Stone, more barnyard funk and less flowers and spices.

Bottle poured a clear gold with a small lasting white head. Aromas of straw, lavender, white pepper and light lemon zest. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of straw, white pepper, light lavender and light lemon zest with a crisp dry lingering peppery finish.
