In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isn’t your everyday saison. It’s our saison—100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Poured from bottle, lakeside, after riding singletrack with friends, paired with brats off the grill. Quite floral and fruity, lemon aroma and body like a wit. Decent brew, but not as awesome as other Stone offerings. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

May2015 Bottle. Smells nice herbal, cloves, lavender, slight yeast fruitiness. Clear, beautiful, but was hoping for some haze, only a finger, but of dense and lasting white head. Lots of yeasty flavours, slight funk, interesting carbonation, quite dry and medium bodied. Short citric and long herbal aftertaste. Very enjoyable!

From bottle into goblet. Yellow golden color with off white head. Nose is spices, oranges, lemon, yeast. Medium carbonation, slightly sweet, dry finish, white pepper. Nice beer.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2015 (Bottle) Classic saison aroma. Clear golden complexion with effervescence and thin white head, no lacing. The flavor is spicy and peppery but missing the depth and funk of the traditional farmhouse classic. However, my wife loved it.

Bottle 355ml. Pours blond/golden with high white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of spices, ginger. Taste is of spices, ginger, belgian yeast, slight acidity, some alcohol. Palate: Medium body. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: Good, but spices seem a bit overdone to me.

Sweet spices on the nose, almost an allspice or cinnamon. Reminiscent of a Christmas ale. Golden yellow with a persistent white foam ring. Those spices are prevalent on the palate as well, finishing dry but presenting a light body and some lemon citrus up front. It’s a super easy drinker, but I think the spices are a touch much for me.

A decent saison but it lacks the traditional black pepper and coriander with Ester heavy finish. Pours a glorious golden orange with a fine, dense yellowish head. The aroma is fruity and a bit floral with nice notes of coriander and grass. Finishes a bit flat and despite a fuller body doesn’t have much else going on.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a thin white head. Aroma of pear, light fruits, anise star, Belgian spices, bready malt. Flavor of spices up front (lots of anise star and cinnamon), yeast, bready malt, and plenty of fruits, with more spices in the finish. Delicious saison! Stone got it right. Certainly spice heavy though. 8/4/8/4/15 (3.9/5)

Pours amber with a quickly fading head. Aroma of bananas, spicy phenols, soft farmhouse notes, herbal hops, hints of cardamon. Somewhat hefe- and wit-like. Spicy, lightly hoppy and yeast flavours, reasonably dry though. Some earthy Saison notes.

Tap @ T. S. McHugh’s: Clear gold with a white head. Liquorice aroma with lots of spices and similar flavors to follow. Not bad.

Bottle from Stone Bar in Asagaya. Pours a clear gold with a nice soapy head that lingers. Wonderful saison yeast nose with some lemon, white pepper, coriander and cardamom aromas present. Nice carbonation with a medium body. Nice light bitterness with lots of spiciness on the palate. Lemon stands out as it warms with a bit of berry, but best enjoyed relatively quickly. Super refreshing beer!
