In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isnít your everyday saison. Itís our saisonó100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Appearance: pours with a large off white head that settles into a still large head but is very dense, the beer is a hazy orange color, Aroma: bread, lemon, yeast, butter, strong citrus, some grass or pine, smells amazing Taste: spicy, has a strong hop kick with average bitterness, citrus, bitter finish, bread, some faint alcohol Palate: lively carbonation, light mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste Overall: I was very excited when I heard stone was making a saison and I was still impressed, very delicious, good bitterness, still highly drinkable, very aromatic, complex, really delivers in every way

Poured a cloudy gold color and forms a nice head. The aroma is probably the best thing about this saison. The taste is very spicy and has a decent palate. Not the best saison available but definitely not the worst.

Bottle from Damonís in Augusta. Pours a fairly clear medium golden color with a smallish bubbly white head that dissipates rather quickly. The aroma is filled with an overwhelming amont of spice that is barely backed up by some bready lemony malt, The flavor again is over the top spices with hints of bready lemon hints of earth and funk. Medium body mderate carbonation. Too spicy for me, I can see past the spice rack.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber gold with a quickly subsided white head.

Aroma: Fresh herbs, perfumy Belgian yeast, clove.

Taste: Fresh herbs, spicy earthy yeast, peppery spicy, modest spicy hops, finishes with a tart twang and some heat on the middle of the tongue.

Mouthfeel: Very lively carb Full bodied.

Overall: This is a fantastic Saison, and I feel that way for many reasons. Iím a big fan of Saison du BUFF, and this has some similar qualities. Itís snappy and tart, itís spicy, and it has the perfect abv level for a Saison. So if you love Sainson du BUFF, this beer is for you, and if you hate Saison du BUFF, this beer is for you. There is definitely herbs present, but itís not over the top like SdB. Iím also impressed with the peppers playing a role in spiciness that usually comes from lots European hops. This beer is hoppy no doubt, but itís not the first thing that crosses your mind when taking a whiff and sip.

A blonde saison with a thin white head. In aroma, pleasant perfume, fruity malt, light coriander, nice. In mouth, a smooth perfumy malt with coriander, Curacao, crisp and refreshing. On tap at Bacon and beer Classic.

Drank in a tulip glass and poured from a bottle. This is not a great Saison. It is pretty good. Itís a bit heavy on the lavender, it seems. It pours hazy with nice head. It has a lemony aroma, with hints of thyme and the sort of yeasty aroma one often expects of a Saison. It has light to medium bitterness coupled with light sourness and a bitter finish. Overall, not bad, but not great. It is interesting enough to make it more than merely acceptable (for a merely acceptable Saison, try Two Roads Brewing Companyís Workerís Comp Saison--which is pretty boring, but drinkable). Frankly, coming from Stone, I was expecting something better. I hope future efforts at brewing a Saison will work be better. (I should note that I find it annoying that Stone offers no information about the grains, type of Saison yeast, or hops used. Instead they highlight the fact that they put loads of lavender in this beer.)

Smells of citrus and lavender but not in an overpowering way. Pours pale gold. The malt is clear and present at the front of the palate moving to grapefruit sourness. Some savory herbal notes sit under this to finish off.
