COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In spring 2011, Stone bought the farm, literally, taking over 19 acres of fertile Southern California soil where we now grow pristine fruits, vegetables, herbs and more for our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurants. A taste of our homespun farm-to-tableism is provided in this farmhouse ale stoked with lemon zest, plus lemon thyme and lavender straight from Stone Farms. This spring-to-summer saison is citric and herbal on the palate with a dry, peppery finish. Thanks to the infusion of fresh West Coast ingredients, this isnít your everyday saison. Itís our saisonó100% Stone. Celebrate the sunny season with an authentic taste of our farm and, with it, our commitment to quality.

Pour from a bottle is a nice clear gold with a white head. Has a slight earthy aroma. Taste is lemony with spice. Leaves a clean taste.

This is really quite good. A light fruitiness at first, with a fair amount of hops. A very very dry finish. And reasonably priced. Quite sessionable.

Appearance: pours with a large off white head that settles into a still large head but is very dense, the beer is a hazy orange color, Aroma: bread, lemon, yeast, butter, strong citrus, some grass or pine, smells amazing Taste: spicy, has a strong hop kick with average bitterness, citrus, bitter finish, bread, some faint alcohol Palate: lively carbonation, light mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste Overall: I was very excited when I heard stone was making a saison and I was still impressed, very delicious, good bitterness, still highly drinkable, very aromatic, complex, really delivers in every way

A bit more hops than a traditional saison, but tons of interesting flavors! Leans to the sour side rather than the sweet side.

A very tasty Saison. It reminds me a bit of a Wit beer as well. Very good brew with a West Coast twist.

Lemon, pepper and ginger on the nose and then on the palate. Also flavors of light, bright fruit - apricots, maybe cherries. Long peppery, lemon drop finish. Very spicy, very flavorful, not for lovers of subtlety. Iím not one of them. Yum.

Pours a golden orange with a one finger white head with some lacing. Aroma is of sour fruits, citrus, freshly baked bread, thyme, ripe banana, light barnyard funk, and some thyme. Taste is similar to the aroma with a nice herbal spiciness and a moderate bitterness not normally seen with the style. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a bone dry, semi bitter, spicy, medium-long finish. Overall, a very tasty, unique, and drinkable beer that could easily become my go to Saison.

aroma of maple and grapefruit and spice..the usual slightly cloudy amber-yellow saison appearance thin head...spicy yeast backed with lemony bitterness is the predominamt flavor..light and fizzy palate..overall about what I expected from a west coast style brewery making a saison and thatís a good thing

DATE REVIEWED: May 16, 2014... GLASSWARE: Hennepin footed pokal... OCCASION: "coerced" by a free sample at Bottle King--oh well... APPEARANCE: a central bubble of life awakens the clear, golden body; thick, cascading white lacing that creates a lasting horizon... AROMA: immediate Cali citrus with a yeasty funk that melds well with the airy floral scents that evoke lavender or lilac--definitely a farmhouse concoction... PALATE: soft, active body--palate cleansing and refreshing; pleasant,, lengthy aftertaste...TASTE: funky, almost spicy yeast that finds the teeth as hops might; a complete profile, far beyond the hay and decay one usually encounters in this genre, with pepper sprucing up the yeast...OVERALLL: first off, I love saisons --not much needed to give this a thumbs up, but add Stone to the mix, and we have a new possibility: a refreshing yet boldly spicy, floral take ....
