COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawyers Triple is based upon the traditional "Golden Triple" style of strong ale, hailing from Belgium, and weighs in at 7.6% alc/vol. The brew is deep golden in color with a distinctive spicy, sweet and hoppy nose. Effervescent carbonation leads to a modestly dry malt character with hoppy flavors and alcohol overtones. Sawyers Triple was formulated and brewed by Bill Sherwood.

A: The beer pours a clear golden orange color with a tall white head. S: Reeks of sugar. Cloying as any beer Ive smelled with over ripe bananas and spices being the only break from the sugar (not that they really help much). Bubblegum and cotton candy only add to the problem. T: This is so sweet, its almost got a grainy texture to it. Sugar, sugar, and more sugar with cotton candy, bubblegum, and overly ripe fruits such as bananas and apples. A strong spice character of clove that is also unpleasant. M: Syrupy with medium carbonation. O: Unenjoyable on all fronts. I know its sort of a dick move to bash this beer considering its purpose, but its just not good.

Bottle and damn good! Gold/orange color with a white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a subtle note of hops. Spices, sugar and malt come through both on the nose and in the flavor. A slight bit of hops keeps this one balanced very well. I really enjoyed this.

Sparkling clear, beautiful golden ale. Small, fizzy, white head. The nose is malty, fruity, spicy and lemony with a small note of bubblegum. Also a marriage of apricot, pear and clove. The flavor is sweet up front with a burst of the same marriage of apricot, pear and clove. Banana and apple. Well-bittered to mostly balance things out. Full-bodied with a fizzy and astringent mouthfeel. Lengthy, moderately bitter finish. A winner! A good cause too!

22oz bottle acquired in trade with The_Beer_God (thanks!). Poured a medium orangish color with a small sized off whtie head. Aromas of pears, banans, some spices, and citrus. Tastes of the same fruitiness and spices. Some oxidation is starting to set in.

22oz bomber thanks to OldStyleCubFan! Ive never even heard of this beer. So whats the story with it? Anyway, pours blonde with a decent white head. Not much retention or lace. Aroma is laden with cloves, overripe bananas. Taste is very sweet, loads of candi sugar, bananas, red apples. Dry, powdery, messy finish.

22 ounce bottle shared by cdumler. Thanks! Pours a clear and very vivid orange color with a thin head, light lacing and very poor head retention. The aroma is bubblegum, pineapple, banana, cotton candy, clove and caramel. Taste is pineapple, clove and caramel. More tart and earthy than the aroma. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

3fourths (7887) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 21, 2003
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2012 Cloudy soft orange with a small thin white head. Sickly sweet fruit and sugar aroma, only slightly stinging initially on the lips. Very sweet throughout the drink, a bit thin, but not too bad. A good mouthfeel, a little salty and punchy, full of melon, lemon, unripe peaches and bread.
