I really enjoyed this brew. The chipotle fit in perfectly with the smokey sweetness of the porter. Don’t fret about the heat-there is none. Do not drink on a full stomach; this is a hefty beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tasted at Jason’s anti-Homebrew-Club gathering. It poured a very dark reddish-brown colour with huge beige foam, long-lasting with lace. It starts as a tasty modern American-style porter: bready, toasty, roasty, hints of fruit, chocolate, coffee, and a relatively dry finish. But a cool blend of smoky chili peppers and smoky malt sweetness creep-up at the end. Nowhere near as spicy as Stone Crime & Punishment, but more balanced and drinkable. Some of the other guys complained it wasn’t smoky enough, wasn’t spicy enough, wasn’t sweet enough, but those were the exact reasons I enjoyed it so much. Imaginative, well-crafted and extremely tasty.

3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very unpleasant aroma. Bitter almost leather smell. Speckled, light brown and smallish head. Dissipates fairly quickly. Smoked peppers are definitely present but not overdone. Like the lingering spiciness on the lips. I appreciate the effort, but ultimately would rather eat chipotle peppers than drink them.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours the deepest mahogany into the glass, with a beige head that diminishes over time, leaving ring lace. The nose is of smoke and nice roasted malts. smokey-sweet caramel meets a finish of nice chipotle pepper spice. The capsaicin is not overdone in the finish, making for a nice quaff to a summer brew. Very even keel, this is very drinkable even in the warmest of weather. Great job!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Pour is deep black with a light tan head Aroma is dark chocolate, caramel, a hint of coffee and spice. Taste is chocolate and coffee with a slight vanilla note. Back end has the chipotle and the smokey malt. The peppers are very subtle but at the same time very detectable. Good version of this beer, good for sitting around a campfire.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Large bottle from BrewDog Nottingham. Deep black Brown colour with a lasting foamy tan head. The aroma certainly has the smoky heat from the chipotle chilli. Taste is chocolate and roast alts, with a deep warm smoky finish, that didn’t overpower the beer.

I love the pepper finish of this delicious smoked porter! Stone did a beautiful job with the heat of the peppers in this brew so that they don’t over power the taste of the smokiness!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber from Whole Paycheck. Dark brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma slightly weak, roast, smoke, peppers. Roasty chipotle flavor. Dry with slight bitterness. Palate medium, maybe a tad watery. Good but not great.

Tap at Marciero. Wonderful nose of smoked malt and roasted peppers. Deep reddish-brown color. Great smoke flavor, peppers are hot but moreso are very flavorful and smoky, a bit like roasted red peppers. Still not my kind of thing, but this is well done.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Brewer’s Haven. Pours inky black/muddy brown with small beige head. Faint pepper aroma on top of usual roasted malts. pepper becomes more apparent in the taste, with a little lingering spiciness on the tongue. Not quite as spicy as Crime, which is a good thing.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a medium to full brown, with a good tan head. It kinda smells like a bag of dog food. Like a grain, smokey smell. The peppers really come through. Too much. Light mouthfeel. Smokey, smokey malt flavor, but this doesn’t do it for me when you’re expecting a PORTER.
