COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers is a thing of spicy glory, with the just-right heat of smoked jalapeŮos (aka chipotles) that combines beautifully with the beerís peat-smoked malt and roasty character. The idea came about in 2006 when Merchandise Manager Chris Carroll suggested we make a special "South of the Border Stone Smoked Porter" for Cinco de Mayo that year. One sip, and we were hooked!

Pours pitch black with a huge white head and tons of lacing around the glass. Aroma is peppers, peat smoked malt, and chocolate. The taste is smoked malt, water, and I guess a hint of peppers. The peppers are really subtle, I canít even tell that they are there to be honest. Itís an ok beer but a little thin and sort of boring to be honest.

Bomber. Aroma consists of peppers, tobacco, mild campfire, licorice, raspberry jam, wet rock. Pours dark mahogany with a medium beige head with decent retention. Taste is thankfully much more smoky than the aroma; also mid-level heat from the peppers, roasty, coffee, earthy, mild licorice; finishes slightly bitter. As it warms, the peppers become more pronounced, offering more vegetal jalapeno flavor (good in this case) and heat. Perfect palate. I love it; much better than plain old Stone Smoked Porter, which Iíve always thought was a lost opportunity.

Dark brown thick with light uniform bubble ring of head. Smokey with light roasted behind it like being around a campfire with coffee roasting in the back ground. Smokey flavor with a nice bitter smoke flavor to accompany the spice from the pepper.

Pours a dark black. Has a chocolate aroma with some spices. Taste is unique with chocolate, coffee, and strong chipotle spices. Leaves a spicy aftertaste.

Bottle while chillin. Dark brown close to black with a medium sized good lasting tan head. Gentle charcoal smoke, herbal, wood, grain, light jalapeŮos. All of this is quickly overpowered by chile. Medium body, feels big for the abv, oily texture, medium carbonation, medium sweet, little bitterness, long chili heat. The chily takes up a lot of space, itís a cwazy novelty brew, but ok in smaller amounts.

As a beer (and especially as a seasonal porter like this one) itís stellar. NOW as far as personal preference goes I wasnít too into it. It came on smooth and tasty and then punched me in the face with the pepper taste. I should make a note that it was the first Peppered beer Iíve ever tried so there may be a learning curve.

Dark cola-colored beer with a thin fizzy tan head that disappears quickly. Rich nose of smoked peat, cocoa, and balsamic with a tingling sensation of pepper. Flavor is much more pronounced than the aroma. It starts with an explosion of dark-roast coffee, burnt nuts, and unsweetened cocoa which gives way to prominent smoke and finally a slight punch of heat, which blends into the finishing hops. Good beer with many layers of flavor.

Sampled at ESBLS. It poured a ruby color with a nice tan head. The aroma was of dark chocolate with some smokey malt. The taste was of roasted malts with a smokey finish that has a light, chipotle spice bite. Not overpowering, just about right.

Aroma: Wood smoke, rock candy, faint chili spice. Appearance: Deep dark cherry body, foamy tan head that fades with minimal lacing. Taste: Wood smoke, dark chocolate. The chipolte really comes out in the aftertaste - tingles in the throat. Palate: Light bodied for a porter. The chipolte spice seems to act in place of carbonation, with palpable bursts of heat throughout the mouth. Overall: My first go with a chili beer. Very interesting and well done. Profile shows restraint and balance.

Pours an almost cola brown, with a fluffy off white head, the chillies give a decent smoke and chilli heat hit. Very drinkable .
