3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark brown with a slight ruby hue and a large (2-3 finger) light brown rocky head that slowly receded, down to a few puddles and large collar producing good spotty lacing.
The aroma was of a roasted dark bread malt and a leathery yeast with notes of baker’s chocolate, roasted coffee, smoke and a nice hot pepper presence.
It tasted roasty with a good bold maltiness along hints of chocolate and coffee from the onset, becoming a tad bitter with a good strong note of smoke and a spicy peppery bite that cleared the sinuses. The flavor lasted a good long while with a smoky peppery espresso taste hitting you right in the back of the throat.
Mouthfeel was a bit past medium in body with a dry, oily texture and a soft carbonation.
Overall this is a brew that possesses a strong bitter smoky flavor with a mild chocolate sweetness and a gentle heated peppery finish...

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is fantastic, strong smoked pepper, like a Mexican kitchen. Flavor is solid porter, sweet, and not too thick. Aftertaste is all pepper, no malt or body sticks around.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a tall tan head that quickly settles to a half finger.
Aroma of roast malt and a touch of smoke.
The flavor starts lightly bitter from roast malts. A bit of sweetness comes through after a few sips and the pepper takes a few sips before it too kicks in.
Subtle difference from the regular, but it is there and does it nicely.

Bottle on the train to Portsmouth, IOW Jolly Day, from BD Online 24/08/14.
Mahognay brown with a moderate light beige covering.
Nose is roasted malt, brown bread, light cocoa, spice, not a huge aroma coming off this one.
Taste comprises roasty tones, green pepper rub, spice, green chilli, dark toffee fudge, chocolate.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with subtle chilli heat.
Decent enough chilli porter - well checked and not overpowering.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Visually, it’s as expected. The aroma has more chipotle than smoke. That carries to the flavor, as well. This isn’t a sneaky hit, it hits you immediately. However, it’s not overpowering. After you get through the heat, there’s smoke, char, even a bit of chocolate. Lips still tinge for a bit, too.
This is truly outstanding. Everything in the title is there, and with phenomenal balance. Love it.

Pours a dark caramel brown with a khaki head. Chocolate, caramel, pepper, coffee and roasted malt aroma. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, chipotle pepper and roasted malt flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Caramel and pepper spice finish. Weird but worth a try.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep dark brown, almost black with tints of red around the edge. Tan head that dissipated to a thin film. Aroma is earthy, smoke, pepper, and dark chocolate. Taste is bittersweet with some warming heat from the pepper on the finish. Medium bodied, slick texture and overall an excellent smoked porter. Love the little bit of heat as it is just enough without going overboard.

On tap 4 oz. sampler at R.D.F. in Gallery Place, Washington, DC.
Clear, ruby mahogany with a creamy khaki head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of smokey roasted malt, chocolate, chipotle and some earthy notes.
Taste of chocolate, hot and flavorful smoked chili peppers, roasted malt, smokiness and caramel.
Medium body and medium/high carbonation.
Really great chipotle flavor that blends well with the smokey chocolate malt flavors. Too spicy hot to drink very often, but it sure is a tasty occasional brew.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle during the IoW Jolly, thanks to Colin. It pours deep ruby with a small white head. The nose is toasty, peppery spice, cocoa, milk chocolate, smoke, caramel and treacle. The taste is roasted malt, spicy, earthy, mild acidity, some bitterness, pepper, smoke and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Alright, but not as much depth as I had hoped for.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A bit lacking in the heat for me, but I was hoping for a solid burn. The nose is a somewhat smokey malt. A decent, smooth and tasty porter. An interesting offer by Stone, one I may buy again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown, black in the glass, with a medium wheat-colored head, excellent retention, very fine lacing. Smoke, coffee, and toast aromas, with hints of chili, and grass. Medium body, velvety smooth. Mild to medium initial sweetness, mild to medium bitter finish with an even longer lingering chipotle spiciness that gets slowly hotter as you drink. Well balanced. Nothing is overdone, it all comes together beautifully. Easily the best chili beer I’ve had.
