An interesting recipe, if not an ideal combination of smoked Porter beer and chipotle pepper. It really does taste like a BBQ.

Dark, coffee color with a slightly frothy, off-white head. The lacing on the glass is light and wet. Roasted smoke with a slight spice until you’ve had a few sips. Then, the heat starts in the back of your throat. A light burn, nothing too crazy, and just enough to let you know that the chipotle are there. After a full bomber, the heat is consistent for an extended period, and mildly pleasant. There is nothing extreme about this, just really nice in all aspects. Nice smoky flavor and a nice spice in an excellent porter.
Definitely a long, dark finish with this brew!

When it comes to a hot pepper infused beers I like the heat midway through the flavors. Dark full bodied porter with smoked coffee malts and bitterness wrap around the essence of Chipotle peppers. Another well engineered beer from Stone.

Tap at Capone’s. Deep mohagany with off white lacy head. Cocoa and roast in the nose. Cocoa flavor and pepper presence is well incorporated, just right and pleasant. Always a nice Porter with a twist.

The beer is dark mahogany with an off-white head. Aromas of hickory, smoke, roast, char, cacao, peppers. Nice flavor - everything comes together nicely. Peppery heat is there, but doesn’t overwhelm or fatigue the palate. Chocolate and roast with some earthy hop character in the finish. not something I would have regularly, but this was a fun beer. A good candidate for sharing a few ways.

Bomber. Aroma consists of peppers, tobacco, mild campfire, licorice, raspberry jam, wet rock. Pours dark mahogany with a medium beige head with decent retention. Taste is thankfully much more smoky than the aroma; also mid-level heat from the peppers, roasty, coffee, earthy, mild licorice; finishes slightly bitter. As it warms, the peppers become more pronounced, offering more vegetal jalapeno flavor (good in this case) and heat. Perfect palate. I love it; much better than plain old Stone Smoked Porter, which I’ve always thought was a lost opportunity.

Dark brown thick with light uniform bubble ring of head. Smokey with light roasted behind it like being around a campfire with coffee roasting in the back ground. Smokey flavor with a nice bitter smoke flavor to accompany the spice from the pepper.

Pours a dark black. Has a chocolate aroma with some spices. Taste is unique with chocolate, coffee, and strong chipotle spices. Leaves a spicy aftertaste.

Bottle while chillin. Dark brown close to black with a medium sized good lasting tan head. Gentle charcoal smoke, herbal, wood, grain, light jalapeños. All of this is quickly overpowered by chile. Medium body, feels big for the abv, oily texture, medium carbonation, medium sweet, little bitterness, long chili heat. The chily takes up a lot of space, it’s a cwazy novelty brew, but ok in smaller amounts.

As a beer (and especially as a seasonal porter like this one) it’s stellar. NOW as far as personal preference goes I wasn’t too into it. It came on smooth and tasty and then punched me in the face with the pepper taste. I should make a note that it was the first Peppered beer I’ve ever tried so there may be a learning curve.

Dark cola-colored beer with a thin fizzy tan head that disappears quickly. Rich nose of smoked peat, cocoa, and balsamic with a tingling sensation of pepper. Flavor is much more pronounced than the aroma. It starts with an explosion of dark-roast coffee, burnt nuts, and unsweetened cocoa which gives way to prominent smoke and finally a slight punch of heat, which blends into the finishing hops. Good beer with many layers of flavor.
