Bottle. Pours almost black with a small thick head. Smoke flavor considerably more mellow than the standard Smoked Porter. Very thick and a bit sweet, almost as if a scoop of vanilla ice cream had been melted in the normal porter. Little bit of bitterness at the end. Dry finish. Verges on being dessert beer.

Light brown color. Sweet vanilla, nutty, chocolately nose. Very malt mouth with lots of vanilla and chocolate hazelnut fudge. A bit too sweet for my liking but not bad.

Sampled at 4 Hands. A lot of red in this beer. A smoky aroma is kind of meaty. The flavor is also big smoke with big malts. Not sure this works for me. Glad it was just a sample.

650ml brown bottle. Bottleshare at Ferris’. Deep brown, head is whitish and thin. Nose has roast malts, chocolate and vanilla. Lots of roasted malt in the taste, bitter malts and vanilla. Finishes with vanilla notes and medium bitterness. Medium bodied. Didn’t really enjoy it.

Bottle - Dark roast malts and vanilla/ Jet brown with a beige head. Vanilla sweetness, roast malts and chocolate and a big bitterness. Not that great.

Poured from a 22oz bottle with an enjoy bottle date from March. 2+ months ago. Aroma - strong chocolate and vanilla aroma. Appearance - small head that went away quickly. Pitch black with a reddish hew. Taste - light mouth feel, with a sweet aftertaste. Has a lingering vanilla aftertaste. Palate - nice lingering aftertaste. Vanilla lingers Overall - a very solid porter, just reminds me why I like IPAs more.

[My bottle (660ml) shared with GregClow, jercraigs & mabel] Pours a deep amber-brown with a small semi-lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, lots of vanilla and finally some smoke. Flavour is smoke and vanilla along with roasted malt. A touch watery. Average to medium bodied. Interesting and enjoyable.

This is what I have been hoping I would find every time I’ve ever bought, or imagined, a vanilla porter. Stone continues to amaze me with their craftsmanship and excellent brews! If you haven’t dedicated some time trying Stone beers, you’re kind of wasting your life. I will hunt this down every time it is released.

Complex beer, that is sweet up front with bit vanilla notes and hint of chocolate. Bittering hops melow the sweetness and the roasted/smoked malts finish out. Deep brown with flecks of garnet and slightly cream head.
