4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jjgmd (736) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Pours a dark black color with a small mocha head. Nose is malty with vanilla bean and hints of chocolate. Taste is malty chocolate with vanilla, a little but full of flavor and taste. Finish is sweet, and ends with same flavors described. Very nice and oh so drinkable. Quaff Score 8 / 10
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dogfishho (472) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Pours thick and opaque black with a dark bown head. The aroma is really interesting as the smoke is clearly balanced out with the sweetness from the vanilla. On the palate, this balance is evident as well. it is nice to see that the vanilla was not over the top. Cool beer.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 OmegaX (977) - Florida, USA - JAN 30, 2013
Not a bad brew. Bottle into snifter. Aroma was nice amounts of vanilla, roast, smoke, coffee, and beef jerky. Pour is as expected, dark brown, light brown head. The flavor didn’t do it for me as much. Rubber, some light vanilla, smoke, and coffee/roast, band aids. Yeah, it’s not bad but I prefer the chipotle version better.

Bottle at home. Dark brown beer with a small offwhite head. Chocolate, vanilla, roasted, coffee aroma. Chocolate, coffee, licorice, vanilla flavour. Aroma is nicer than the flavour.

One of my favorite porters. I didn't think I was going to like it but it was fantastic. The vanilla complements the roasted coffee flavor perfectly.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ernest (5627) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, dark chocolate), trace hops (resin), with a strong note of vanilla, hint of smoke/ashes. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Rated in the same session as the regular and Chipotle versions. Slightly better than the regular version due to better flavor balance. The vanilla dominates the nose, almost completely hiding the hops and smoke. I like vanilla as much as anyone, but it’s just too one-dimensional in this case.

Location/Date:Bottle on January 9th, 2012.
Appearance:Pours a dark black with a little bit of white head.
Aroma: Aroma mostly of vanilla.
Taste: Light bitterness, medium light roast, plenty of vanilla that isn’t too sweet.
Palate:Medium body.
Summary: I think this is a nice change of pace for the porter style, which usually includes chocolate.
