Poured from a 22oz bottle with an enjoy bottle date from March. 2+ months ago. Aroma - strong chocolate and vanilla aroma. Appearance - small head that went away quickly. Pitch black with a reddish hew. Taste - light mouth feel, with a sweet aftertaste. Has a lingering vanilla aftertaste. Palate - nice lingering aftertaste. Vanilla lingers Overall - a very solid porter, just reminds me why I like IPAs more.

[My bottle (660ml) shared with GregClow, jercraigs & mabel] Pours a deep amber-brown with a small semi-lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, lots of vanilla and finally some smoke. Flavour is smoke and vanilla along with roasted malt. A touch watery. Average to medium bodied. Interesting and enjoyable.

This is what I have been hoping I would find every time Iíve ever bought, or imagined, a vanilla porter. Stone continues to amaze me with their craftsmanship and excellent brews! If you havenít dedicated some time trying Stone beers, youíre kind of wasting your life. I will hunt this down every time it is released.

Complex beer, that is sweet up front with bit vanilla notes and hint of chocolate. Bittering hops melow the sweetness and the roasted/smoked malts finish out. Deep brown with flecks of garnet and slightly cream head.

Pours a deep cola color with a slight smoked aroma. Taste is a slightly smoky flavor. The vanilla flavor cuts into the smokiness of the flavor. A minor bitter flavor after the swallow that quickly disappears. A warming beer that is nice.

[Bottle] Inky black pour with a small khaki colored head. Distinct vanilla aromas. Chocolate and roasted coffee in the flavor. Light smoke and earthy hops follow in the finish. Strong, yet balanced vanilla flavors. Great lacing. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. A solid brew. Tasting notes from 2/2014.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2014 So many times it seems that the vanilla can be too much in beers. Weíll, in this one, the vanilla certainly masks a good deal of the smoke in the aroma, the body has a nice balance between the two. Certainly feels like a winter only beer but thatís fine - winter comes every year. Strangely has a bit if a warm soda carbonation feel to it, which isnít the best. Mostly pretty good though.

A thick black body with a tan head that had good retention and lace. Aroma had a strong coffee malt profile initially. A good balance of sweet chocolate and smoke, and a nice presence of vanilla. Flavor had a nice bittersweet chocolate quality upfront, coffee malts were a bit restrained. Smoke and vanilla came through in the finish. Overall good balance of flavors nothing really overpowered any other flavor. Almost light mouth-feel. Nice beer.
