Appearance: very dark maroon color, can see that it’s clear when held up to the light, pours with a large tan head that settles into a nice density Aroma: coffee, dark roasted malt, Taste: coffee, has a vanilla warmth and sweetness beneath the coffee, bitter finish, Palate: soft carbonation, heavy mouthfeel, bitter aftertaste Overall: a good porter and I like the vanilla, could use a stronger vanilla sweetness but I guess this isn’t a stout, simple and straightforward, very drinkable

Bomber. Poured deep brown with a short-lived tan head. The aroma picked up semi-sweet cocoa, smoked malts, and a hefty dose of vanilla bean.. excellent. The flavor found similar, with a bigger dose of vanilla.. dry and smokier on the finish. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate with low-ish carbonation.. good feel.. great stuff!

Pours very dark brown, almost black body with a slight crimson hue. Minimal head with limited retention. Initial aromas of chocolate and coffee succumb to a faint vanilla scent. Subtle level of campfire smokiness also present. Earthy peat and smoky malt tastes. Smooth caramel with more vanilla on the finish. Thin mouthfeel, overall, enjoyable beer.

On tap at the GA Chapter Room. Dark, opaque brown, with a thin, tan, bubbly head. Roasted flavor, with some black cherries, chicory, espresso, and toffee. Very sweet, with a light roasted bitterness. Medium to heavy body, chalky and syrupy. This is a fairly nice porter, with a nice treatment. Nothing outstanding.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Slight smoked scent and flavor. Vanilla was present. A lot lighter than expected. Coats the mouth but not a full velvet overwhelming way. Tap

Middling coppery light brown, decent smoothed over ringed eggshell head. Musty aniseed nose, gripping sweetness and smooth roast. Charred vanilla, lean roast and grating sweetness. Soft nice coppery carbonation. Not overly sweet, soft creamy finish.

Bottle, Appellation Wines, TAD Tasting
