3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to glass. Older. Enjoy by 3/25/14. Aroma is dry, smoky, light toasted malts, touch of vanilla. Flavor has a bit more vanilla, medium toasted malts, smoky finish, dry. Tasty, but definitely better fresh.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into a balloon glass. Appearance of the darkest brown imaginable, nearly black. Aroma and taste of roasted malts, faint chocolate, and vanilla. Slightly watery in that good porter way, but a little too watery for me. Overall good but not amazing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pint on tap. Dark brown and clear with a lasting film of bubbles. Aroma is vanilla, dark toast and cocoa. Taste is the same. The vanilla bean seems to have neutralized the faint smoke that existed in the base beer and that’s quite disappointing. Still tasty when considered as a good porter with vanilla bean added. Near-medium body is balanced and has medium carbonation.

Really enjoy the standard Stone Smoked Porter so thought I would give this one a try. Smoked malt with nice rounded sweet notes from the vanilla beans. Has some freshly cooked bacon in the aroma. Lush, smooth mouthfeel with perfect amount of bitterness from hop profile. Almost drinks like a sweet stout if not for the smoky essence. Drinks pretty easy and has assertive and lingering smokiness throughout. Nice winter seasonal best enjoyed by a crackling fire

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (22oz $7): Dark Dark Red, but clear. Small head. Aroma mostly roasted malt. Starts out slightly sweet with vanilla then a little bitterness and burnt toast. Light bodied and light carbonation. I like the light body in this case, but more carbonation would have improved it for me.

Pours a light brown, the guy below compared it to cola and he’s spot on. Nice egg shell looking head. Smell is smokey and vanilla with some roastiness. Taste is caramel, hint of roastiness and smoke. Vanilla really hits you on the finish like a thing of beauty. Great, easy drinking brew.
