light vanilla aroma light smokey mainly nothing. Head disappeared. Taste is more bitter than smokey or vanilla. I really can’t believe i shelled out 4 bucks for this. Probably the worst stone brew I ever had. Not horrible still if it was normal price I probably would not mind so much.

Did not care for this porter. Thin head with little carbonation. Vanilla flavor only detracted from my enjoyment of other flavors in their regular smoked porter. Will not purchase again.

This spin-off of Stone’s great Smoked Porter, dark brown, practically black in color, is definitely for those who prefer sweet beers. Although it’s not a sugar or candy sweetness, the vanilla bean really brings out the inherent sweetness in the beer. There’s one thing about this beer, though, that really impresses me, and that’s the fact that the vanilla tastes nothing like an extract. It truly tastes like real vanilla beans. For being able to pull this off, and so well, I’m high-fiving this beer. Unfortunately, it makes an already round beer much rounder, accentuating an already sweet and malty beer.

12 ounce bottle. Pours transluscent brown with reddish highlights. Medium-sized bubbly beige head. Aroma of subtle roasted malt with hints of smoke and vanilla. Soft velvety smoked malt flavor with hints of light roast coffee. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel that showcases the essence of the vanilla beans. Light hop finish.

Medium statured tan head with fair retention and a nice lace. clear, bright, deep ruby hued brew, good lookin. Nose of vanilla, light alcohol and a hint of cherries. Light bodied, almost thin with a teeny bit of oilyness. Nice flavors of vanilla, light roast, rootbeer and caramel with a light smokiness. Dry finish is a hint astringent but works well in the end. A nicely quaffable Porter and i aint no Porter fan.Could easily drink a few of these in one sitting. 12oz. bottle from Waywood Beverage Co.

bottle shared with minderbinder. pours light brown with a decent beige head, some retention/lacing. can’t miss it: vanilla bean aroma, some smoke, grassiness, few resin notes. hint of sweetness, some roasted malts. average to soft carbonation, medium body - velvety, oily, decent grassy finish. ok.

Sampled side by side with the chipotle pepper version. Exact same clear dark chestnut pour with tan head but the retention on this one was the better of the two. Solid lightly smokey and roasty nose and smoother than it’s counterpart. Flavor is like the base beer but sweeter and with hints of vanilla and anise. Creamier on the palate. I preferred this one.

Choclate-brown on the top and a copper-amber color at the bottom with thick off-white head. A light vanilla-chocolate aroma. The flavor is a cocoa-powder chocolatey with vanilla at the end and tinges of smoke.

_angst_ (3566) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2012
355 ml bottle @ OT. Pours dark reddish brown with a small beige head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet with sweet dark bread, sugary vanilla, powdered sugar, charred wood, vanilla custard, sweetened dark roast coffee, smoke and brown sugar. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with dark bread, vanilla fudge, smoke, roasted malts, charred wood, dark roast coffee and hints of smoked meat. Mouthfeel is round, tiny watery and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and slightly dry with roasted malts, smoke, wood and vanilla essence. Rather unpleasant intense vanilla that isn’t supported by the rest of the beer.
