Chocolate and a very faint vanillia aroma. A deep brown color with a light brown head. A nice smoked flavor the chocolateis not overpowering and the vanilla is in the aftertaste. The brew is pretty light bodied for a porter and crisp. Overall a good brew worth a buy

Aroma is light but nice. smoke and vanilla. taste is ok. the vanilla seems very artificial. the smoke is well done however. carbonation is soft. seems a bit thin. would not get this again but was ok to try.

Quite a bit of vanilla. Decent flavor and mediocre pour. Drinkable but not the end all be all of vanilla porters. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark dark brown, with a light tan head. Aroma of malt and vanilla. Taste slightly of smoke, more heavily of vanilla. Nice palate, fairly smooth and drinkable. Thumbs up for sure.

12 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a solid nontransparent black color when held up to the desk light, white ring for a head, aroma of geniune vanilla, light smoke, and malt. Hits the mouth with a firm and wide body, malt was burnt to hell but it loved every minute of it, middle has smoke come in, finish has only a tiny amount of vanilla. It was worth the wait.

New Beer Distributors, NY 355ml ($3.50): Pours dark brown with a cascading creamy head. Aroma is smoky vanilla and roasted malts. Taste is really vanilla heavy. Smokiness is in the undertone. Nice roasted malt tastes. Well-balanced. One of the better vanilla infused beer I have had.

Tap at the stagshead. pours jet black with light reddish head. nose of vanilla bean. tastes mostly of vanilla, light smokiness, earth, coffee, dark chocolate. very round palate and a touch too sweet for huge portions but very pleasant in small doses

I bought this despite what I thought was a poor showing by chipotle version - nose has a lot of vanilla extract character and not much else - maybe a little smoke and/or char - medium body - the texture is fairly nice - creamy, with medium carbonation - flavor is simple - equal parts sweet vanilla and strong char, followed by a moderate bitterness, none of which comes together all that well - I like the chipotle better - sigh.

Bottle. I know we shared this at RBAG, and I know I have my unrated notes sitting at home on my bedside table waiting to be entered, but why would I pass up the opportunity to have this again while I’m actually on the hallowed ground from whence it was conceived? Dark brown, copper highlights, beige head, good retention, light lace. Aroma is roast, cocoa, and soft vanilla-- no real smoke on the nose. Maybe the vanilla masks it. The palate really mirrors the nose, with the roast dominating, and the vanilla providing a soft natural sweetness. Light smoke shines through here nicely. I’ve had a few vanilla beers lately that have rubbed me the wrong way with their extract quality. This beer is a great example of vanilla flavour that feels very natural, and is nicely integrated into a beer that offers balance and subtlety. Great job.
