Nutty vanilla aroma. Beautiful almost black color with small white head. Vanilla flavor definitely doesn't add the sweetness I would've expected - a drier, mustier flavor really. Finishes very dry and almost even a bit tart. A good beer, but I think I would've preferred a bit more creamy richness.

Deep aroma of chocolate, with just a touch of smoke. Pours an almost opaque dark ruby, with a full light tan head. The vanilla in this beer counters the presence of the smoke, leaving it a muted note in the finish. The vanilla also comes forward to bring more chocolate notes into the beer. This is a solid offering, and I’m glad I tried it. I believe the Chipotle version is a better beer though.

Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma is not as much vanillas as expected. The chipotle variation had much more chipotle aroma while the vanilla here is masked by the smokiness. But the flavor here...oh man the flavor. Amazingly fresh vanilla, like homemade whipped cream. And it isn’t sweet, or overly so. The smokiness adds an almost savory balance to the vanilla that is just perfect. I want to drink this every day for dessert.

Pours a deep brown with a foamy tan head. It has a strong aroma of vanilla with a bit of smoke and malt. It has a sweet and smokey flavor up front and in the middle, with a semisweet chocolate aftertaste and smooth body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Bruisin ales - well for $3.50, it’s a solid porter, though a bit over hyped. The vanilla is quite strong on the nose once it warms to cellar temp from fridge temp.

Cola brown in the deep mahogany near the edges. Fizzy, light brown, light weight head. Fades to a wisp of cirrus effervescence on the top. Aroma is sweet vanilla with a slightly caramelly/woody note underneath. A touch of refreshing grassy-after-rain hops. Body is thin, too thin :( Flavor is also a bit thin, needs to be sweeter (add some oatmeal and caramel malt.) Big vanilla notes (not as huge as an oak-aged beer though.) Smooth, light malt flavor, a little sweetness. A touch of grass and metallic hops. Maybe the water needs changing too... This is an overrated beer; future raters: do not be influenced by its rating...

A - Pours a dark brown-black with a finger of frothy khaki colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, smoke, and vanilla, with a bit of lactose sweetness and some light coffee. T - Starts off with a mix of roasted chocolate malts with vanilla and a bit of smoke. Through the middle, the smoke and vanilla flavors get stronger with a touch of coffee and lactose. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate, vanilla, and smoke. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a smokey and sweet finish. D - Very drinkable. The vanilla really accentuates the smoke and chocolate flavors nicely. Excellent balance.

Acquired this in a trade. Enjoyed at fridge temp in a Hill Farmstead Glass.

A - Dark brown on the pour, small head that fades fast.

S - Slight campfire scent, oakiness and light vanilla scent but hard to pick out. Smoke sort of overpowers everything else.

T - Up front light malts, sort of oaky but not too strong. Very drinkable. Finish is very big vanilla taste. Impressive finish though.

M - 25% carbonation on the mouth swish. Medium body. Sweet dry finish.

O - I like this more than expected. it’s pretty drinkable and the 12 ounce bottle makes getting through it very easy.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Tan conglomerate head with excellent retention recedes and pancakes leaving sheet lacing. Sweet vanilla aromas. Soft with sweet vanilla upfront turning to smoke before the lasting bitter espresso finish.
