3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Enjoy by 09.20.12, vertical with regular one - Pours dark brown, almost black with a small foamy head. Aroma of vanillin sugar, some roastiness, hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is roasty and sweetish with a lot of vanillin sugary notes, hints of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Finish is roasty and slightly sweetish with vanilla notes. Nice, quite tasty but the vanillin sugary notes dominate slightly too much.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a near pitch black color with a perfect 1 cm head that lingers a bit. Lots of webbing on the glass. Aroma is lots of smoke, roasted malt and vanilla. The taste blends the smoke very nicely with the vanilla. Very slight bitterness near the finish. Hops are very subtle. Overall, a very solid porter.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, pours a thin black, aroma is a bit smoky and sweet, taste is very vanillia like a nice mouth feel, full bodied and a nice finish, mild on the smoky side, not like the regular smoke porter, overall really solid beer

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Transparently black, small head. Aroma of only vanilla. Dryish with slender body and clean mouthfeel. Vanilla overpowers everything else. Some salty resiny bitterness. Why ruin a perfectly good beer like this?

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Enjoy by 9/20/2012.
A: Pitch black body through the center with some brown through the edges, a thin but creamy tan head is on top.
S: Vanilla and coffee are the main aromas with a light dark chocolate and smoke in the background. This is very well balanced in the aroma and is only moderately sweet.
T: A light coffee flavor is on the intro that holds through as the main flavor until the end until a strong vanilla flavor hits abruptly with a light dark chocolate and smokey finish giving this beer good depth. For some reason this reminds me a little of a rootbeer float. Despite the strong vanilla presence the sweetness is tamed.
M: Medium bodied with fizzy yet soft carbonation.
O: It’s odd that this is past the enjoy by date when it came to the state not too long ago, I guess the vanilla falls off quickly? This is still a great beer and worth picking up if you’re going to consume it soon. I would love to try a float with this with some vanilla ice cream, it would be wonderful.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle - Pours dark brown with a small light tan head. The aroma is heavy on the vanilla and has roasted malt. The flavor is roasty and smoky though not extremely so. It’s moderately bitter with notes of dark chocolate and vanilla. This brew is full bodied with a long, bitter, roasted finish. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla bean, espresso, and smoked wood. Taste was overly smokey, charred wood, roasted notes, with lighter vanilla bean. Carbonation was a little on the higher side.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Deep midnight red, nearly opaque. The head is milky and thick. The vanilla beans dominate the aroma, sweet and bakery-like. Similarly, the flavor is almost all vanilla, finishing with a sweet/bitter bite. I don’t sense the smokiness behind it at all; instead this is a full-on sweet porter. Underwhelming IMHO.
