Bottle. Heavy vanilla - almost all you can smell. Pours black with quick tan head and good lacing. Taste is all vanilla and some porter, then some more vanilla. Finish doesn’t quit.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark brownish black with a small foamy tan head . Aroma is kind similar to the original smoked porter with the expect ion of a little faint vanilla that masks some of the other aromas. Taste is roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, bakers coco, some nuttiness, and some hop bitterness. Has a medium body with a creamy mouthfeel and a slick, semi bitter finish. overall, a pretty nice porter that might quite not be as good as the original.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from Bev4Less. Pours much the same as its chipotle sibling, murky brown-black, BUT the foam is off-white-to-tan and more thick and lasting. Some odors of vanilla cut through the smoke, dark malts and foam on first sniff. A little shake and another sniff doesn’t reveal much of anything new. Taste is initially tame, before a BIG (but not bad) blast of vanilla kicks in, followed by the smoke, followed by a "I’m not sure I like it" marriage of the vanilla and the smoke... this feels like a Vegas wedding to me... ill-advised and not likely to last. The worst part is the medicinal quality that the blend of the vanilla and smoke make... Second sip is somewhat better, but still not all the way gone. Ah well, both beers were not bad, but both have some serious weak point, IMHO...

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A dark brown with ruby highlights, a creamy 2f light khaki head. Notes of salty bacon, smooth vanilla beans, and sweet maltiness. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, with good carbonation, before a lingering somewhat astringent finish. Tastes like a root beer float with bits of bacon. A heavier mouthfeel would make this a complete winner.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria in Asheville, NC. Very dark brown, almost black, pour with a frothy beige head. The smoke is most noticeable in the aroma with only faint notes of vanilla. The flavor is outstanding. The smoke really comes through (much more so than in the regular Stone Smoked Porter) with a very pleasant touch of vanilla. The result reminds me of what a really good smelling cigar would possibly taste like. This is wonderfully done.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pint at Barley’s. Pours dark with a tan head. I can tell there’s a bit much vanilla in this for me. The ash-tray notes are still intact with coffee aroma too so there is some balance. Vanilla is the most prominent flavor also, just right over the limit into excess. One pint was enough without being too sweet too have another. That ashy, smoky flavor I get from Stone’s smoked porter is still here. This was okay. Nowhere near as good as without the vanilla.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at Cervezas, Miami. It pours jet black, with a thick beige head. The nose is vanilla, marshmallow, chocolate, roasted malt and smoke. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, smoke, charcoal, leather, wood, marshmallow and a touch of vanilla (but not too much), with a dry-roasted finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. The vanilla is fairly subtle. A flavoursome beer.
