Bottle. Aroma of smoke, marshmallow, vanilla, and coffee. Great mellow beer thatís really well balanced and has lots of delicious layers.

Pours a dark, clear, cola-buckeye color with a gigantic, sudsy orange-tan head. Porter fruitiness and smokiness in the aroma. No vanilla noted. Lightly creamy and soft with some mild scrubbiness toward the finish. Smoky, unsweetened raw vanilla, ample bitterness, and smoky flavors. Increasing acidity throughout the palate.

Winter 2013-2014 bottle. Unimpressive pour. Big vanilla nose; smells dry and portery. Vanilla kinda disappears on the palate. Surprisingly hoppy, and the roasty backbone doesn't integrate well. Flavor profile is disjointed overall; this was far better when I had it on tap a few years back. Pass.

One of if not the best vanilla beers I have had. Pour is mahogany but looks black in glass with a large off white head. Aroma is like vanilla salt water taffy and malts. Medium body with a very nice and full vanilla flavors. A must have beer.

The aroma is smokey, roasty, smells of coffee, hints of chocolate. Pours almost black with light brown head, mostly diminishing and good lacing. The taste is medium light bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish a light bitter. Very Good.

On Draft @ Stone Tap Takeover. Pours your typical black porter color with tan head. Light roast notes on the nose with a sturdy smoke and subtle vanilla. The flavor here is smoke and roast malt forward with just a kiss of vanilla. I was really hoping for more of a vanilla presence.

Nate (3553) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 29, 2014
On tap at Brunzies. Vanilla, carbon dioxide, light lactose and smoke. Malty and sweet with a stout-like tang. Dark black opaque with thin lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts dry like a stout with some bitter wood smoke astringency, roasted barley, and chocolate. Coffee and smoke. Vanilla and lactose. Big bitter hop finish with some vanilla after.

Tap at T&P. Pours a dark red, Maroon to almost brown color. Tall tan head response. Aroma is smoky, dark malt, roast with a fair bit of vanilla sweetness. Flavor is smoky, vanilla, almost medicinal. Finishes dry, smoked, sweet and more bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber into snifter glass, deep amberíish brown color with dark tan head. Aroma of vanilla, smoke, roasted malt and light coffee. Taste adds notes of bitter fruity hops, caramel, dark chocolate and some char. Light body, low-moderate carbonation, dry with roasty bitter finish. Solid beer, vanilla addition pretty minimal.
