Clear dark black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, milk chocolate, cacao, vanilla, moderate alcohol, smoke - wood notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long duration, and a smokey notes. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090807]

Cask at GBBF 2010. A dark brown beer with a red shine and no head. The aroma has notes of vanilla and roasted malt. The flavo ris sweet with ntoes of vanilla, malt, and caramel and just a hint of smoke, leading to a dry vanilla finish. A bit too much vanilla for my liking.

From cask Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malt and distinct vanilla. Sweet, distinct vanilla and dark sweet malt beneath. Dark roasted. Lasting vanilla impression. Not balanced and overimpowering on the vanilla.

Cask@The White Horse, Parsons Green, London.Black colour, small beigeish head. Aroma is vanilla, roasted malts, liquorice, oak, caramel, fudge and lots more. I’m lost for words. Flavour is very close to the aroma in an extremely good balance. Lacking something I can’t pinpoint in the flavour. Really close to perfection! Orgasm of the senses!

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Transparently black, small head. Aroma of only vanilla. Dryish with slender body and clean mouthfeel. Vanilla overpowers everything else. Some salty resiny bitterness. Why ruin a perfectly good beer like this?

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2010. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty vanilla aroma with some smokey hints. Roasted malty slightly smokey sweetish vanilla flavor. Has a roasted malty smokey finish.

Black color with creamy head. It has some aroma of roasted malt, light vanilla. Smooth mouthfeel, roasted malt and chocolate flavor, with almost no vanilla. The bitterness level is correct.
Balanced; good.
