A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Draft. Black with thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and a hint of smoke. Medium body, roasted malt, chocolate and a slight smokiness with a bitter finish. Just the right about of smoke.

Draft pours dark brown with red hues and a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit, and slight alcohol with no noticeable smoke on the nose. Taste is smokey, caramel, bitter hops, light fruit. Slightly bitter finish with a medium body. Finally a smoked beer I enjoyed!

Solid, as most things are from Stone. Dark pour. Thick body. Beautiful balance of dark fruits, coffee and charred malt. Smokiness comes through subtle woodchip flavors; no liquid smoke taste here!

Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Has a sweet aroma. Taste is smoky with a bitter coffee twang. Has a nice chocolate kick at first but the after taste is like ash. Had high hopes for this but it was still good...just not great.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2014 15.01.2014, 0,65l bottle (bbd. 02.04.2012) sampled @ BBGTC tasting:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, dark malts, caramel, licorice, lactose, chocolate, dark sugar, butterscotch. Taste is slightly dry and oxidized, dark malts, caramel, coffee, butterscotch, hay, chocolate, cardboard. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Fair enough, has probably faded a lot.

A nice Smokey flavour and aroma nothing overpowering, great looking head and dark color, kinda leaves me thinking what else could be involved to help the character overall but nonetheless decent mix up beer

Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Moderate smokey aroma with a good malty backbone and roasty character. Taste is smoke and roast flanked by caramel and malts. Well balanced with a light bitter touch.

On tap at Pear. Pours a dark reddy brown color with a bit of head. Smokey roasted malt flavors. The smokiness balances well and doesn't overpower it.

Black with ruby highlights and a decent off-white head. Aroma of roast and coffee, primarily, as oppose to smoke, which comes out more as a "woodiness" than anything. Taste has a much more pronounced smoky feeling, along with roast, ash, coffee, and chocolate. Roast increases on palate, too. Iím not a big fan of "smoked" beers, but this is quite nice.

From the tap out of my growler. Pours a near pitch black with a tan head. Smell of sweet chocolate and subtle coffee notes. Taste is very sweet and robust from the chocolate and smokiness. Great malt body that also gives it itís sweet body. Good beer.
