Not really a SMOKED porter, but a smoked PORTER. It does tie the room together though. kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2009 nose of sweet malt, nearly oats. smoke is currently only a background element. flavor of lightly salted smoke but not the pronounced bacon found in some smoked beers. sweet roast and even some hops. some essence of cola as well. smoke somehow seems to affect yeast character with slightly ’off’ aromas and an odd aftertaste. this needs to be a bigger beer to be more successful with this kind of roast, smoke nonwithstanding. mmbt7 (26), Moorhead, Minnesota, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Amazing balance in this fantastic beer. Rich and sweet with a smoky, earthy, almost moleasses feel. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Pitch black with a creamy tan head. Sweet chocolate malt aromas abound. Smooth and not too smoky with a balanced bitterness. Strong chocolate and dark fruit flavors which accentuate the smokiness and complexity. beerchugger (293), Colorado, USA

The taste is virtually identical, with some coffee hints (from the roasted malts). Very nice beer. nater (10), Sabattus, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Bottle. Extremely dark red/brown body with a one finger brown head, which lasted the duration of the beer. Smoky and sweet aroma, like a good brisket, as well as nicotine, hickory, oak smoke, and earthy dirt notes. Creamy yet fizzy mouth feel.
