Jan 9, 2009 Tap. Pours a deep almost black color with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma is dark malt, coffee, and a bit of a smoky characteristic. Taste is chocolate and coffee up front dissolving into a smooth aftertaste of hops, yeast, and smoke. Palate is rather dry and heavy. Very solid.

Jan 9, 2009 22oz - Aroma of chewy dark malts, chocolate, fresh hops and a touch of smoke. Pours deep mahogany with a huge fluffy light brown head and great lacing. Looks like a root beer float. Flavor matches aroma with the smoke coming out stronger in the finish. Palate is chewy and dry. Tasty but nothing special.

Jan 8, 2009 A - Pours a black in color, nice carbonation, nice small foamy tan head, very nice lacing afterwards.
S - Scents of malts, toffee, caramel, and a slight roasted/smoked scent.
T - The taste is of roasted/smoked toffee and sweet, nice clean finish.
M - Medium body.
D - Very drinkable. An awesome brew from Stone, a classic to the style. Highly recommended.

Jan 7, 2009 On tap at Brass Tap (Wesley Chapel, FL). Pours a dark brown almost black color with a creamy tan head. The smoke flavor is immediately noticeable from the aroma alone. Balanced flavor includes roasted malts to go along with smoke. Nice bitter finish too.

Jan 7, 2009 Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured a ruby tinged nearly black colour with a creamy and largely lingering tan head. Aroma was sweet chocolate, malt with coffee and molasses hints. Pretty enticing, but didn’t really pick up on the smoked aspect. Creamy mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate in the flavour, and a really good fruity edge as well, which leads to a balanced licorice tinged finish; but the smoked side of things was very muted. That isn’t to the overall detriment of this though, as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jan 4, 2009 Pours out dark brown with some head. Taste is roasty, malty and smokey.Semi-sweet porter with dry finish.Very good for the style,balanced taste not too much smoke.

Jan 3, 2009 Bottle, from Ojai Liquors. Pours brown with a small cream head. Aroma of caramel malt, chocolate, vanilla and roasts. Flavor showcases roasted notes, though firmly complemented by a nutty, woody, caramel flavor. Finishes dry and roasty. Solid overall, but there are more exciting smoked porters out there.
