COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Huge fan of Porters. This one did not disappoint. Got the big 22 oz bottle and was quite impressed.

Aroma of licorice, chocolate, light caramel with a hint of smoked malt. Appearance is black with tan head; oily pour. Flavor matches the nose. Palate is creamy and bubbly. Nice, but I wasn’t blown away. Personally, I would have liked a more smokey aroma and flavor.

Really nice porter. The smoke is not huge anywhere. The nose is espresso and chocolate. Color is black is a light head. Taste is coffee, chocolate and hints of smoke. Palate is very smooth and full bodied.

I couldn’t really see what the beer looked like in the bar, so I’ll give it the benefit of doubt. Smells nice, coffee, chocolate, some smokiness. A little lighter on the hops than I’d like, but I guess I’ve been having a lot of imperial everythings lately; pretty nicely balanced with a nice body. The bubbliness and lightly caramel aspect honestly reminds me slightly of coke, minus corn syrup and plus a lot of other far richer flavors... I think this tastes increasingly good the more of it you drink. This seems to be true (at least for me) of a lot of darks.

Very dark, near-black pour with a fat, fluffy tan head. Powerful smokey aroma, complete with all the chocolate, coffee, and toffee accents you’d expect from a porter. One of the best smelling beers I’ve ever come across. Taste doesnt quite match up to the intense aroma. Espresso flavors meld with roasted malts, possibly some licorice, with a lingering bitter finish. Full, slick body with lively mouthfeel. Very good overall, just a bit less smokey than I was expecting given the smell.

0,65 l bottle from CrackedKettle, courtesy of Balazs, thanks!
Poured black with a small but nice beige head that diminshes to a small lacing one. Dry, smoked aroma with coffe and dark chocolate, some tobacco and leather. Wooden cask flavor with dry tastes of burnt wood, ash and deep roasted grains, mild caramell with a fruity character because of hop and yeast. Tart and peat-like character, wooden aftertaste.

Poured dark brown, with a beige, quick to disappear head. Some minor lacing on the edges. Roasted, smoked aroma with molasses, hops, licorice, some hints of honey. Medium dense body with medium carbonation, overall thinner and bitter than I expected. Pretty good though.
