ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Sep 14, 2008 bottle from midway mart in denton tx. poured black with ruby hues and a tan head. aroma of hops and chocolate. flavor of dark roasts with a dry bitter. seemed like the hops were to strong for this to be a porter. gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Sep 13, 2008 on tap pour a dark choclate color. Flavor is dry, sweet, with just a bit of coffee. Can not detect any smoke and a bit thin. Very drinkable for a porter. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2008 pitch black with great tan head. flavor is of black patent and chocolate malt with a noticeable hop bitterness and even flavor. a lot of depth to this beer with huge flavors everywhere, but it maintains a nice balance. top of the line Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA Sep 12, 2008 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy.
Pours a nice deep dark brown with ruby hue’s and tan head. Aroma of dark roast, chocolate, hints of smoke. Flavor has nice dark roast, some chocolate, slight smoke, and hoppy. Palate is medium with med-high carbonation....good porter! VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Sep 12, 2008 Bomber - Pours a very dark black/brown in color with a small light tan head that faded to thin covering over the beer and around the rim of the glass. Lacing is significant and very nice. Aroma is faintly smokey with plenty of roasted malts, some chocolate and a small amount of coffee. Flavor is a bit more smokey with plenty of chocolate... I agree with the other BBQ comments... and with plenty of hop bitterness along with more than a fair amount of malty sweetness in the finish. Finish is lingering. I really liked this one... blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 11, 2008 bottle, dark brown pour, tan head, nose of some malt and slight smoke, flavor is a roasted malt with some cocoa, finish is medium, smoke is very mild graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 9, 2008 Pours a deep brown into the glass with nice red highlights. There is a good tan head which gives some pretty nice lacing throughout. I smell a lot of chocolate with a spicy hop characteristic. I pick up on a very faint smoke, kind of the second hand smoke you’d get at a bbq. I pick up on the smoke much more in the flavor which provides a nice counter to the chocolaty sweetness of the malt. The light smokiness and chocolate/coffee flavors stay on the tongue well after the finish. Really nice brew. dankbrewqueen (41), Morongo Valley, California, USA Sep 9, 2008 not a huge fan of porters personally. this one does have a unique smoked flavor that is quite enjoyable. the bistro makes an outstanding smoked porter bbq sauce that i’m sure would be good on just about anything! yum
