DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Jul 29, 2008 (Bottle). I had low expectations for this, but was very pleasantly surprised. It’s a terrific beer. Aroma is chocolatey. Black color, thick brown head. Flavor extremely well balanced between chocolate, coffee, and malt. Nice finish. Wonderful. Zbong (38), Lansing, Michigan, USA Jul 27, 2008 22 oz bottle. It tastes just like I’m eating a BBQ. Smoke, oak, coffee, chocolate. Very easy to drink, I just with it had a higher ABV. Great for drinking outdoors on a hot day. aleyin (14), Murrieta, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 Good balance for a Stone Brewery product. Malt, smokiness, coffee, caramel chocolate and hops. A very easy drinker. On my regular list. jbuzz (658), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 21, 2008 Smoked Beer tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee. Nice rich porter Chocolate and coffee. Not the best Porter I have had but very good. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 20, 2008 Brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, sweet malt and notes of hops. Taste in line with aroma plus a little chocolate. Smoke not overpowering, nice complement to the beer. Finishes Mildly bitter with a dry semi-hoppy finish. HonkeyBra (1266), Lemont, Illinois, USA Jul 19, 2008 Dudebra says this is disappointing and I’m not saying his wrong, aight? Full bodied, big smoke flavor, a good example of the style. However, I don’t look to stone for "a good example of the style", I look to stone for beers that blow my mind. This didn’t. NaturalIce (115), originally from Michigan, New York, USA Jul 19, 2008 Great beer. First porter I’ve had in 10 years! I am going to make a promise to grab a porter or 2 next time i go to the beer store. Deep mohagny and very rich flavor. gameface23 (131), Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA Jul 19, 2008 Updated: Aug 10, 2008Bottle that was a few month’s past it’s enjoy by date. It poured black with a tan head that was gone within 2 minutes. It smelled like someone lit a campfire in the distance. I could really taste the smokiness.
