Commercial Description:
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Pours with a light brown moderately sized head. The body hue is dark brown with a hint of amber if you look at it from afar. The aroma is very smokey (hence the name) with a hint of coffee and molasses. It feels medium to the palate with light carbonation. The beer has a moderately sweet beginning to a bitter finish.

Although I desperately want to try the vanilla and aged brews, this porter, my oh my. Not quite the bitterness of other stone ales, but for once the smoky quality adds to porter.

22oz bottle served in an English pint glass. Medium brown pour topped by beige foam. Smells mainly of bitter chocolate, very little smoke detected. It is present in the flavor however, seamlessly blending with a nice dark chocolate, earthy flavor. Very nice.

Amazing beyond belief. Smoky chocolaty and just a well done coffee like appearance. I actually use this in a chicken marinade. Cheers to this one

(Bottle). I had low expectations for this, but was very pleasantly surprised. It’s a terrific beer. Aroma is chocolatey. Black color, thick brown head. Flavor extremely well balanced between chocolate, coffee, and malt. Nice finish. Wonderful.

22 oz bottle. It tastes just like I’m eating a BBQ. Smoke, oak, coffee, chocolate. Very easy to drink, I just with it had a higher ABV. Great for drinking outdoors on a hot day.

Good balance for a Stone Brewery product. Malt, smokiness, coffee, caramel chocolate and hops. A very easy drinker. On my regular list.
