awautlet (45), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 27, 2008 Loved this beer. One of the lightest Porters I have tasted. Light malty nose with a hint of smoke. On the palate are flavors of toasted malt, dark chocolate with just a touch of smoke. I like that the smoke is light and really enhances the beer instead of becoming the only taste component. Dry and slightly bitter finish. texasbartender (160), Sugarland, Texas, USA Jun 26, 2008 The beer pours a deep black with a thin off white head that leaves a good lacing down the sides of the glass. The nose is very light with a hint of smoke. The taste is very light but I can pick up some hints of smoke and sourness with light notes of chocolate. The finish is short and dry sja14 (105), Ohio, USA Jun 25, 2008 A dark mahogany beer witha tan head. Definitely can smell the smokiness. Can taste burned malt with hints of bitter chocolate. Tastes less smokey than I anticipated. A solid porter but I felt liike it could have been better if it had more of a smokey flavor. Oscbert (531), Sacramento, California, USA Jun 17, 2008 ~Pours light black with red tints. Creamy off white head, nice lacing.
~Nice roasted smoked coffee aroma.
~Roasted smoke coffee flavor. Yum.
~Roasty bitter finish.
~Mmmm. This is a great porter. sethdude (600), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 12, 2008 Pours deep red, big tan head on top. Aroma is yeasty, some hop fruitiness and a mild, far away smoke. Flavor is subtle, the hops and smoke in the nose don’t dominate the sweet chocolate notes, tobacco, rye bread, and toast flavors that mingle on the tongue. Very well balanced, though hops are more prominent than many porters (West Coast brewers, I suppose). Very nice. Thanks, beastiefan! TEJA (281), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 12, 2008 A porter with a tuch of smoke. Lots of coffey and chocolate but with a litle thin body for the class. chrisafari (100), Orange, California, USA Jun 6, 2008 Pours dark black and brown with small white/tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts, nuts and coffee. Slightly smokey. Smooth flavor of Chocolate malts with a medium body. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours pitch black, big creamy tan head, and a lot of lacing. A perfect pour from yours truly. Lots of roasted notes in the nose, some slight spices, coffee. Roasted malts hit the tongue first. Caramel and some fresh fruits follow. Has a basic malt finish. Med-bodied, velvety feel on the tongue, and easy to pound down. Enjoyed it.
