Stone Smoked Porter

I just could not get as excited over this one as most people are. While the thiock body and rich tastes found in most Stone beers was present, the smoke overwhelmed all other scents and flavors. I did detect some chocolate and coffe in the nose and palate, but again, I had to fight through too much smoke to get there. I would enjoy this beer much more as just a Porter, that hasn’t been smoked,

Nice and rich, this is what a porter should taste like. Smooth and dry, dark in color, malty and smoky.

From bottle. Smoked coffee, chocolate aroma. Very dark ruby red, almost black colour with a stained head. Smoked, roasted hop flavour. found it lacked something which I cant put my finger on. A good porter mind.

This beer has a lot of character for a porter. Cofee, chocholate, malt, and hops are all present in a nice combination. Can’t wait to try their RIS.

Mighty tasty selection from Stone, one of my favorite brewers. Aroma and flavor redolent of smoky malt, coffee and chocolate. From the first taste you know you are in for a treat. Excellent silky mouthfeel. Aftertaste lingers pleasantly, whispering that hops were involved, too. This goes on my top shelf, and I’m an IPA man!

Pours a deep red black with well formed light tan head and nicely formed lacing. Aromas of roasty chocolate blend perfectly with mild smoky notes. There is a slight spice to the nose, perhaps a combination of the smoke and hops, and a subtle touch of fruit. Great balance of flavors between the sweetness, medium bitter dark chocolate, and light pleasant smoke. Ends on a roasty note with mild smoke and piney hops/. Body is slightly creamy and finishes mediumm dry. Very nice drinkable porter. The light smoke adds a really wonderful twist to this brew. Carbonation is nice and prickkly up front turning smooth on the the back end.

Really enjoyed this (more-so after it got a bit warmer). Pour damn near black.

Very prominent smoke flavor and aroma. Poured black with a medium thick head of tan color. Goes good with BBQ and steaks.
