Mar 31, 2008 Bomber poured into a pint glass. Mahogany color with a medium tan head. Some lacing and decent retention.
Aroma is not particularly smokey, instead reverting to the notes of a standard porter: roasted malt and chocolate.
Flavor is very roasty with coffee flavors sweetened by chocolate. The smoke takes a larger role here than in the smell, complementing the charred roastiness.
Pretty thick in mouthfeel with low carbonation. Smooth but a little flat to me. Overall one of the better smoked porters.

Mar 30, 2008 Poured a little too vigorously, so it had a huge foamy, frothy head. Beautiful head. Nose is roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is smooth and roasted malt with some coffee, just like the nose. Slight bitter finish. Good brew.

Mar 29, 2008 Oct. 2007 - Dark pour, one finger head, little lacing. Little aroma. The flavor was a mix of fruit and roast with faint chocolate. The smokiness also comes out, but not overpowering. Thick smooth mouthfeel coats the tongue. Good beer, but not fantastic.

Mar 29, 2008 I just could not get as excited over this one as most people are. While the thiock body and rich tastes found in most Stone beers was present, the smoke overwhelmed all other scents and flavors. I did detect some chocolate and coffe in the nose and palate, but again, I had to fight through too much smoke to get there.
I would enjoy this beer much more as just a Porter, that hasn’t been smoked,

Mar 26, 2008 From bottle. Smoked coffee, chocolate aroma. Very dark ruby red, almost black colour with a stained head. Smoked, roasted hop flavour. found it lacked something which I cant put my finger on. A good porter mind.

Mar 25, 2008 This beer has a lot of character for a porter. Cofee, chocholate, malt, and hops are all present in a nice combination. Can’t wait to try their RIS.
