VVilliam (50), USA Feb 3, 2008 Bottled. Pours a thick motor oil black with no head. An incredible beer with smoke, chocolate, fruit, and caramel. Very smooth, very calm. Seems like it should be stronger, and it probably should be. Will definitely have to buy again. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Feb 2, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a tan head. Aroma is smoked, coffee, cocoa. Flavour is smoked, coffee, hop, sweet, roasted. Very nice beer, but i wish there should be more. Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Feb 2, 2008 Updated: Jul 31, 200922 oz bottle. Dark brown body with a small dense beige head. Aroma is smoked, some liquorices, chocolate and coffee as well. Flavor is light roasted malt, some chocolate malt, coffee and a decent bitterness. Not bad at all, but I find it a bit weak and disappointing anyway comparing with many other fine smoked porters. Maybe has something to do with a relative low ABV
Re-ratet 650ml bottle. Dark brown with a medium beige head. Quite mild roasted malt aroma with coffee and chocolate. Flavor has a mild and pleasant roastines, malt, chocolate, coffee with a gentle balanced bitter finish. Very pleasant and easy drinkable.
craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2008 bomber. quite a porter... this one has more flavor than any other porter I’ve had before... pours a deep dark brown - approaching black with a 1" tan head. aromas of malts, chocolate, coffee and slight fruits. as the beer flows over the palate more distinct flavors come through - such as liquorice, slight smoke and dark fruits. I really like how the smoke flavor does not dominate the beer like some other smoked porters. This beer is incredibly well balanced and dynamic. Wonderful palate from front to back, medium full body with smooth sides and a lively front. Excellent finish leaves you wanting more. luv2brew (177), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Feb 1, 2008 This beer is nowhere near the smokiness that I was expecting. There is really very little smiokiness in it at all, but has more of an earthiness to it than full smoked flavor. It comes across as a choclate lovers dream with a hint of bitterness but a large amount of sweetness to balance out. It has very little bitterness with the full sweetness up front and center. BrewmeisterEd (59), USA Feb 1, 2008 poured in a wide bodied red wine glass. very dark with a small but full bodied head - the color of which is reminiscent of what you might see on top of a root beer float. Absence of hops smell (duh) and faint aroma of bittersweet chocolate. Solid mouth feel - a bit chewy. I’m impressed with the blending (as advertised) of the smoked malt, I was expecting it to perhaps overpower - but not the case. Good beer... 45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA Feb 1, 2008 Stone’s Smoked Porter is really good. It tastes like coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate. Scoutman (14), USA Jan 30, 2008 A really good porter, but light on the smoke flavor when compared to Alaskan Smoked Porter. Lot’s of chocolate and coffee/toffee flavors. Nice and thick. Well done Porter
