bryandhargrave (165), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jan 6, 2008 i dont like stouts. never really cared for porters. i think its the chocolate. but this beer. this beer could be the gateway drug. Atlove (36), USA Jan 6, 2008 The Stone Smoked Porter pours almost black with a fluffy light brown head, but embodies a very red hue when you hold it up to a light. The flavors of smoke and roasted malt are more subtle than I would have expected, especially from Stone co. but the beer is more drinkable than I expected too. A pleasant porter. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 5, 2008 Bomber split with Naka. Pours black w/ smally beige head rimming the glass. Deep roasted malt w/ a touch of smoke and raisin fruit nose. Big, roasty flavor, coffe and bitter w/ a nice subtle smoke to accent the bitterness at the end. Delicious porter. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 5, 2008 A blackness from which no light escapes with a light tan one-finger head. A hint of hickory smoke with some strong sweet vanilla and caramel malt. Coffee and caramel in the taste with a good smokey backbone that isn’t overpowering. It is a very distinct smoke flavor, not roasted. It has a decent body, but I expected a little more for how dense it looked. Had a relatively dry finish. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jan 4, 2008 Pour is black with a big beige head. Good initial lacing in the glass. Nice aroma of smoke, bitter chocolate and coffee. Flavor of smoke, roasty malt and slightly bitter. Palate is a little thin, but not bad. travita (1842), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 4, 2008 Very dark brown to black in colro with ruby highlights and a lovely tan head. Delicous smoke aromas dominate. Strong dark and rick with nice maltiness. Full bodied with a warming alcohol character.
oteyj (710), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jan 3, 2008 This one is pretty special for me- 100th rating on a great beer. Damn this is delicious. Upon first whiff I was bombarded with malt, hops, and a certain smoky quality that only comes after a day of sitting next to a campfire. The flavour was so very smooth...rich malt and a bit of hop bite- but not too much to be overwhelming. Just perfect hop integration with a bit of a subtle citrus undertone which gets along great with the smoky flavour. Apart from that, the flavour contains notes of licorice, bitter chocolate, and roasted coffee. Lacing is also incredible. Smooth, creamy, and delicious- just a plain great porter. daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Jan 2, 2008 POW! ZING! KAP! Smooth and smoky like a musty old jazz club. Yeah, cats! On tap at BURP CASTLE!!!
