oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jan 3, 2008 This one is pretty special for me- 100th rating on a great beer. Damn this is delicious. Upon first whiff I was bombarded with malt, hops, and a certain smoky quality that only comes after a day of sitting next to a campfire. The flavour was so very smooth...rich malt and a bit of hop bite- but not too much to be overwhelming. Just perfect hop integration with a bit of a subtle citrus undertone which gets along great with the smoky flavour. Apart from that, the flavour contains notes of licorice, bitter chocolate, and roasted coffee. Lacing is also incredible. Smooth, creamy, and delicious- just a plain great porter. daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Jan 2, 2008 POW! ZING! KAP! Smooth and smoky like a musty old jazz club. Yeah, cats! On tap at BURP CASTLE!!! mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Jan 2, 2008 bottle form secret santa thanks paul: pours black with some crimson coming thru when put to light. large tan head with lacing. aroma is slight smoke with roasted malt and chocolate. flavour is very nice roasted malt and a good smooth chocolate. just hints of the smoke a very well balanced tasty porter that is very enjoyable TopherDrinks (96), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Jan 1, 2008 Bomber. Pours near black with reddish brown edges. Nice sized light tan head that lasts and leaves chunks of lacing all the way down the glass. Nose is of chocolate, coffee, hints of vanilla, and smoke in the background. Taste is similar with chocolate and coffee being the most prevalent, caramel malt backbone, with a smokiness that truly compliments it all. Light citrus hops on the finish with roasted malt coming through as well. Medium-light slick mouth feel with carbonation that tingles a bit. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Dec 29, 2007 Jet black beer with a fluffy tan head. Aromas contain bittersweet chocolate and biscuit. Nice dry balance and flavor of roast coffee and a green tree essence. Medium body and nice dry finish. I love this beer. KawaBomber (193), New Jersey, USA Dec 28, 2007 22oz Bottle: Pours dark brown w/ a large light brown head. Leaves some nice lacing behind as well. Aroma holds sweet malts, light smoke & a bit of nuttiness. Roasted malt flavor w/ a burnt coffee finish. Nice mouthfeel, kind of creamy. Very well balanced. After the true rating was done I ate some peanut butter cookies w/ the rest, yum. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Dec 28, 2007 Deep brown/black pour with a tan head that dissipates quickly. Good chocolate aroma with a bit of smoke and bread. Also, a slight Guinness sour smell. Nice malty taste with obvious smoke and toffee notes. Great porter! Not overly smokey like some I have tasted. raiderfost (158), virginia beach, Virginia, USA Dec 26, 2007 Deep black pour with a light head. All the things you look for in a porter. The best porter i have had to this date hands down.
