Pours a very dark amber almost black, love the smokey aroma. Woody, chocolate and roasted wheat flavors, the smoke does not overpower.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Kuzo (114) - Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Pours a dark brown with reddish hues. Lots of lacing on the glass. Smells like roasted malts and smoked wood. Taste is a solid porter base with quite a bit of smoke. Some sweet malts and dark roasted coffee with hints of chocolate. A pleasant hop bitterness on the finish. Light/medium bodied with good carbonation. Much lighter than I expected. Overall this was an enjoyable porter. This would have been a great beer to enjoy with a nice cigar.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 devilben02 (249) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JAN 7, 2013
Pours from the bottle with a deep, nearly opaque black/brown color and generates a foamy sand-colored head. The aroma is disappointingly subtle, with only a bit of milk chocolate and weak coffee being discerned. The flavor is more what I had hoped for, with some soft, woody smoke, chocolate, and a bit of spicy, herbal hops for balance. The mouthfeel detracts from the varied flavor profile, with a fine, fizzy carbonation that borders on unpleasant. Overall, this is a fine porter with a bit of extra character, but it is is sadly subtle.

Poured into a goblet yields a good two finger mocha head that dissipates quickly. Opaque black in color and scent is mostly chocolate and coffee with slight smoke. Taste pretty much follows with a little woody smoke. Another solid offering from Stone.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerKurve (218) - - JAN 3, 2013
It’s got an assortment of Smoke, Chocolate, Coffee, Burnt Malt, Ham and Barley Flavors. The smokey taste is a bit too......smokey for my likings. It’s a decent beer overall, but not my first choice when it comes to Porters or Smoked Ales
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 ajtrupp (40) - Keenesburg, Colorado, USA - JAN 1, 2013
A little blander than I expected. Maybe I’ve just had a lot of smokier smoked porters lately. I wouldn’t say no to one, but not my first choice.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 rgfellow (78) - - DEC 31, 2012
A bomber at home. Toasty, oaky aroma. Beautiful dark mocha color, caramel head, wispy lacing. Taste is light porter goodness. Carb level just right. Nutty aftertaste. Enjoyed.

Just an average porter. Very disappointed with stone on this offering. There are many others I would try ahead o this one

There is a lot to appreciate in this nicely priced Porter. Great earthy aromatics on the nose and the first sip was instantly smokey with big mouth-feel but, not sticky. Finish is still malt-forward with a nod to some mild hop dryness. Great iteration of the style!

Bottle and Draught. This is one of my favorites. The smokiness is subtle and sits well over the complex balance of hops and roasted malts.
