COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

From the tap out of my growler. Pours a near pitch black with a tan head. Smell of sweet chocolate and subtle coffee notes. Taste is very sweet and robust from the chocolate and smokiness. Great malt body that also gives it it’s sweet body. Good beer.

Beautiful deep brown/red in color. Has a light head is tan, dissipates quickly leaving only small ring. Smokey, slightly bitter aroma. Very robust smokey taste. The dark chocolate/coffee malt is initial taste followed by a wonderfully balanced bitter, hoppy finish. Excellent porter.

2014/01/01 - Pours a clear, dark mahogany colour with a medium, creamy, khaki head that quickly reduces to a lasting surface film. Aroma is chocolate, smoke, molasses and dark fruits. Taste is sweet chocolate malts and dark fruits up front, with a roasted nuts and coffee base and smooth, smokey aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation and a bitter, drying finish. A well executed porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A rich, dark brew. I've had better porters but that smoky aftertaste is admirable and should be tasted at least once ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Fenton Fire Hall...awesome silky smooth black liquid with flavors of dark roast coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit all dancing about, but none taking the lead. Only problem was that there was little to no smoke which was disappointing.

Poursa darkish brown color witha healthy head that fades slowly to nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and a bit earthy. Taste follows suite with a nice blend of coffee and dark chocolate, with roasted malt and just a subtle bit of smoke in the background. Has a nice bitterness and a dry finish. Fairly full body, smotth, thick and a bit of a creamy texture. Very nicely balanced. This beer has a richness not found in a lot of porters. Well worth checking out.
