Poured a deep, deep brown, almost black, letting almost no light in. Head was creamy and left a nice smooth thick lace. The nose hits home with a start of minty hops and roasted coffee beans. It then leads into cocoa and milk chocolate with a dark fruit component, and the smoke just barley makes an appearance. This is a very roast-forward porter upfront in the mouth. The roast is accompanied by a dark chocolate and sweet plums. Following towards the finish are bitter espresso notes with a very fresh hop profile. Quite bitter with a nice minty, sweet aftertaste. Interesting there is very little smoke here. This is a very creamy, drinkable porter, and at 5.9%, I could drink a lot of this. Thanks Dawn, for giving me the opportunity to try this. I’ve wanted this for a while, and it makes a perfect #1300. Much appreciated!

Jul 21, 2008 Smoked Beer tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee. Nice rich porter Chocolate and coffee. Not the best Porter I have had but very good.

Jul 20, 2008 Brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, sweet malt and notes of hops. Taste in line with aroma plus a little chocolate. Smoke not overpowering, nice complement to the beer. Finishes Mildly bitter with a dry semi-hoppy finish.

Jul 19, 2008 Dudebra says this is disappointing and I’m not saying his wrong, aight? Full bodied, big smoke flavor, a good example of the style. However, I don’t look to stone for "a good example of the style", I look to stone for beers that blow my mind. This didn’t.

Jul 19, 2008 Great beer. First porter I’ve had in 10 years! I am going to make a promise to grab a porter or 2 next time i go to the beer store. Deep mohagny and very rich flavor.

Jul 19, 2008 Bottle that was a few month’s past it’s enjoy by date. It poured black with a tan head that was gone within 2 minutes. It smelled like someone lit a campfire in the distance. I could really taste the smokiness. It was enjoyable.
