Bomber. Pours a deep dark brown, almost black but holding it to a light reveals reddish/brown hues on the edges. Head was medium sized and tan colored that lasted and lasted. Aroma was of chocolate, roasted barley with some caramel/toffee sweetness looming. If there is smoke in the aroma, it is very subtle. Flavor of crystal malt sweetness, toffee, chocolate and roasted barley upfront with maybe a hint of coffee. Develops a subtle smoked malt flavor along with a dry coffee flavor in the finish. Hops play a bittering role in the balance of this beer as I get none in the flavor or aroma. Mouthfeel was full bodied, fuller than most/all porters I’ve tried with a silky smooth finish. Excellent beer and though I was expecting more smoke, the beer overall completely makes up for it.

Sep 4, 2008 Black color......opaque. Thick, creamy head. Heavy malt aroma, with subtle hints of smoke. Somewhat of a smoky malt flavor up front......very smooth mouthfeel. Smoke flavor continues into the back, though mingled in with a slightly bitter taste......finish is long and bitter. Though quite tasty, this smoked porter is a tad thin, and a little too bitter.

Sep 3, 2008 Draught. Low and quickly disappearing off-white fluffy head. Pitch black body. Coffee cocoa vineous aroma. Coffee cocoa liquorice hops kovely smoked flavor. Low carbonation, long aftertaste.

Sep 1, 2008 22oz bottle: Pours very dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of smoky,roasted malt, cocoa and slight hint of coffee. Nice smoked taste with some dark chocolate flavor gives it a subtle bitter finish. Surprisingly lighter body than I expected. I’ll probably try this one again.

Sep 1, 2008 pours dark brown and clean with tan head and lots of lacing aromas of smoke and coffee and roasted malts taste is of smoke.chocolate,coffee and malts has a smooth mouthfeel not a big fan of smoke beer but not over powering it is a flavor in the beer not the flavor of th beer
