Very light porter. Texture is watery with soft carbonation. Burnt malt in aroma, but it’s pretty watered down. Pours dark brown with good head and lacing. Finishes a little bitter. On tap at Blue Monk.

A - Thick root beer tan head shows great retention. Dark brown almost black body with chestnut edges. S - Roasted malt, hints of beef jerky or bacon, cocoa, hazlenut. T - Bitter dark chocolate, almond oil, toasted/burnt pumpernickel bread, pine hops and smoke on the sides and back of the tongue and last throughout the finish. Pine on the aftertaste. M - Medium body, low carbonation. Great balance of sweet smoky. The smoke is not overdone and compliment the beer well. Very nice finish and plenty of flavor. Serving type: bottle 10-18-2011

Draft at cruncys. Not my favorite porter because I’m not crazy about an all smoke aroma and taste.

Draft at Stone tap takeover at Crunchy's. Smells like smoke...Tastes like - malt, chocolate and, wait for it, a ton of smoke.

Light aroma of coffee, cocoa, and a slight bit of peat. Good head with tiny bubbles that leaves only an upper ring of lacing. Flavors are coffee and some cocoa; not much peat. Light bitterness in the final stage that lingers well in the aftertaste. Light to medium body. Good - not great - porter.

Chinook/ Columbus dry hopping makes it quite hoppy for a porter, smokiness isnt that prominent, i expected more caramel-toffee profile, a bit sour too.

I swim against the tide then, I got more fruit than vanilla or smoke, but the fruit could be the vanilla in some fashion or other. I little rough around the edges and not really delivering me what I thought I was getting from reading the bottle. It’s not unpleasant, it’s just not my cup of tea (or glass of beer)

Pours black as black can be, beautiful white creamy head, great head retention. Chocolate mostly on the nose, but hints of smokiness and berry. Taste includes lots of chocolate, some coffee, with a little smoke. One of the better porters I have ever had, excellent.

On tap, pours black with a white head. Aroma is smoke, chocolate. Taste is smokey as well, with roasty flavors of chocolate and coffee. Enjoyable.

Bouteille 22oz, courtoisie de Hogtownharry ou Blankboy. De couleur brune-noire et opaque. Nez de malt rôti, de chocolat noir, léger de café et de malt fumé (fumée de bois) avec des notes de mélasse et de houblon herbeux. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture moyennement huileuse et légèrement crémeuse. Goût légèrement fumé (fumée de bois, notes de tourbe) avec des notes de mélasse lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût moyen-léger amer de malt rôti, moyen de chocolat noir et de café doux puis en finale, l’on retrouve un goût légèrement plus amer et sec de houblon herbeux aux notes résineuses avec un goût de café légèrement plus présent. Post-goût long aux notes sèches, moyennement amer de rôti, léger de café, de houblon et de rôti avec des notes fumées et de chocolat noir. (2006)
