A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

definitely got the chocolate and coffee flavor. did not pick up a whole lot of the smoke flavor in it. i did have ruination the night before though, the affects of that may not have completely worn yet. that’s not a bad thing, some smokes taste like a campfire in your mouth. not a bad porter.

Bottled. Pours a thick motor oil black with no head. An incredible beer with smoke, chocolate, fruit, and caramel. Very smooth, very calm. Seems like it should be stronger, and it probably should be. Will definitely have to buy again.

Pours dark brown with a good light brown head that lasts. Aroma of sweet malt, flavor of chockolate and caramel, nice finish. All in all an excellent porter.

Dark brown/black with thick tan head. Sweet aroma, creamy texture. Nice sweet malt but only a hint of smoke and a bit short on finish.

Very dark brown, almost black, with a huge brown head. When I tasted this beer cold out of the fridge, all I could taste was the smoke flavor. It was awful. If I would rate it before it warmed up a little, I’d give Stone Smoked Porter a 1.5 at best. However, once it warms up just a little I taste coffee, dark fruit, and chocolate notes, and the roasted malt. Great beer, just don’t drink it cold.

Light malt aroma; deep amber appearance; malty with a light smoke taste; lightly fizzy on the palate with a quick finish; overall, a solid porter but not enough smoke or peat to live up to the name ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Loved this beer. One of the lightest Porters I have tasted. Light malty nose with a hint of smoke. On the palate are flavors of toasted malt, dark chocolate with just a touch of smoke. I like that the smoke is light and really enhances the beer instead of becoming the only taste component. Dry and slightly bitter finish.

Aroma very reminiscent of Guiness, though color is lighter. Smokiness really brings out the flavors of smoked meat (pepperoni) and cheese (smoked mozarella). Beer disappears from glass very quickly.

Average looking porter, brown head, dark body with a reddish tint. Soft malty aroma. Fairly complex flavor, starts ever so slightly malty, then ends in a somewhat bitter finish. There is a wonderful smoking undertone to the whole mouthful. I would love to try this again in front of a winter fire.

Dark, rich brown in color with creamy head (almost nitro-quality) with lovely lacing. Deep & malty chocolate aroma with mild hop notes. Subtle smoky flavor that builds with time. Hoppier than many Porters. Very sweet and full in the mouth. Burnt chocolate on the tongue and drier than expected finish. Mild smoky tendrils that caress your nose and the back of your throat like a forgotten lover who returns only in the deepest of dreams. Very nicely balanced. A stellar beer.
