Pint @ Taco Mac. Black with dark tan head. Robust, roasted profile with a nice smoky malt character. Deep and full-bodied with coffee and chocolate notes.

Bottle. Pours a burnt brown with a nice 1 finger creamy, tan head. The aroma reminded me of the smell of your clothes after a night next to the campfire. The flavor, much to my surprise, was not dominated by the smokey notes but rather by the roasted malt character. There are hints of smooth chocolate and dark fruits as well.

Pours jet black. Dark Ruby Red color when held to the light with a 1 1/2 to 2 finger tan bubbly head
First nose dip brang heavy chocolate maltiness with a touch of espresso and brown sugar. smelled a littl grapefruit rine from the hops. After giving it a little swirl the heavier smoke smells and a bourbon like booziness become apparent.
Hard Smoke like iím enjoying a cuban.... cigar. It hits on the outside of the tongue with a nice silky layer of decedent chocolate sifting over the middle of my tongue. Just an ever so slight hint of caramel pops out here and there. it sits and waits in the background till you ahve wore out the smoke and chocolate.
creamy on the top of the tongue, hard on the sides with the smoke edginess. leaves a very slight stickiness on the upper lip.
I want some blackened chicken and roasted corn, perhaps texas style BBQ. Char some meat a little bit and drink this with it. mmmm. I remember having some cheesess with Ash rind. I think those would be deligtful with this. I could drink this with that food or on its own. I think late fall would be great for this when you can smell the russian ash trees. right when it gets cold and you light the fire. very nice.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium disappearing head with nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and some peat smoke. Flavor of sweet malt, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee with moderate carbonation and a slight bitterness that leaves a dryness on the mouth. Really, really nice porter. Does Stone even know how to make a bad beer?

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark, rich, creamy, these are all good characteristics of this beer. This bark brown colored brew with a brownish head has lot of complexities in itís smell. But thr taste is where I found myself being amazed, the malt and hops blend, the smoky after taste and the hint of toffee and chocolate make this a good smoked porter.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2010 This stuff is delicious. Lightly bitter, chocolaty coffee. The smoked flavor complimented it very well. I took their advice from the bottle and had it with some chocolate. They were right . It was like a match made in heaven (Well maybe not that ridiculous but hey it was good)

(Bottle)Pours nice fluffy tan head. Enjoyed smell but though the smoke scent wasnt strong enough. Hints of of chocolate and coffee. The smoked taste was not really what i expected and maybe could of been stronger. it kinda threw me off alittle. Pretty decent brew but could use alittle improvement in the flavor. Not bad though.

Nice dark pour with a smoke and malt aroma. Flavor was balanced with coffee, licorice, cherry, and a touch of chocolate. the porter finished long and dry with slight hints of bitter. Very good porter and is worth repeat visits.

Stone Smoked Porter pours a very dark blk/brn with a tan colored head. Nose is of smokey roasted cuffee beans. Think a french roast. Taste is nice smokey malt like that of a non-acidic coffee! full bodied and the smoked flavor is definetly present. This beer would be great in chilli,or a stew. or on a nice cold night!
