Excellent smoked porter- rich, smooth and just a hint of chocolate and smoke. Not much smokiness in the aroma though. Very dark with beige head. Better than Stone brewery's Arrogant Bastard Ale, however the back of the Smoked Porter bottle is less entertaining than it's cousin's. This brew is very filling, but would be paired nicely with some creamy scalloped potatoes, butternut squash soup or chocolate cake. Highly reccomend.

While Double Bastard is by far my favorie ale, Smoked is one of my all time favorite beers. I love the hints coffe and chocolate. I bought 6 bottles of this and had some freinds over for a LAN party. We went back to get 6 more.....strange, but we nver actually got the LAN party roling, we just sat around enjoying the smokie taste. Decided to BBQ and watch TV instead.

Grabbed a bottle at BEVMO while in San Jose. Great tasting porter, smoky burnt coffee nose and a smokey coffee and dark chocolate taste. Cheers to Stone!

Overall a great porter, nice dark brown color with a creamy coffee colored head. The smokey flavor of the malt is evident right away but not too over powering that it takes away from the rest of the taste.

Taste: Chocolate, Coffee Malt with dark Chocolate malt finish.
Palate: Full Bodied with soft tannins, dry finish.
Overall: Sip & Savor. As a porter lover Iíd highly recommend this as a porter for that porter drinker looking for something to enjoy thatís different. Stone takes this one and runs with it.

A truly excellent porter, one that will at least cause me to pause before automatically reaching for Anchorís. The aroma immediately said "Stone", with a sweet spicy (mango chutney?) melody harmoniously laid on top of a classic roasted-coffee porter background, and a strong hint of smoke. It pours beautifully dark and clear, with a nice creamy head which subsides quickly into a drinkable thin film. Even though served quite warm, the flavor and mouthfeel didnít quite live up to what my eyes and nose had promised--I prefer porters that pack just a little bit more sweet, roasted maltiness--but it was still quite good, with the smoke flavor again perfectly balanced. And it all finished very clean, making this one very drinkable porter.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
poured a wonderful very dark, mostly black, dark dark reddish brown but still very clear. also poured very smooth and fluid. the head was of average size and was a nice brown/tan color. i didnít notice any lacing, but the head did stay around for a decent amount of time with a little remaining around the edges towards the end.
as for aroma i mostly got a dark roasted scent with a very mild hint of dark chocolate and coffee. best way to describe it was a nice clean dark roast.
i was suprised by just how mild of a smoke flavor this did have and was impressed by how smooth and balanced of a flavor it had as well. again like the aroma there was a strong dark roasted flavor, but not overly powerful or bitter. there was also a note of sweetness in both the start and finish, but mostly the initial flavor.
the most amazing thing, actualy left me in total awe, was just how light boddied the beer was. with as dark as the beer looks you expect something much thicker, but it was actualy light and refreshing. i would actualy say the body was in the medium light to medium area with a smooth but almost creamy texture. there wasnít much for carbonation, but it was very soft through out the beer and fit the beer very well.
since this one is a very easy beer for me to find in my area and quite affordable, i would deffinently buy this one again as well as strongly recomend it to others.

Definitely a nice porter. Had a tough time pouring it because the head was so thick
