| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2003 It is a good, robust porter...I'm just taken aback by the strength of the smokiness, and it reminds me a little too much of a BBQ or bacon. Dark reddish brown body, small lacing of the head around the sides of the glass. This beer has an awful lot of hops for a porter, which results in an unusually bitter finish. I will probably not buy this again soon. Beerman6686 (1313), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Pours very dark brown/almost black. Aroma of chocolate and smoke. Flavor upfront of smoke, with a chocolate and hop background. Pretty good, but not up to par with east end smoke porter which i compare them all to. henrikb (1306), Aarhus, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2006 Black body, small light brown head, no laces; quite small nose, it has great depth and and complexity, but it is well hidden behind nothing: very fresh with very little smokiness to it, spicy honey (only the spicy part of honey, not the sweet), little bitter chocolate, milk chocolate, some cinnamon. it is fantastic, but could be a little more powerful; balanced, creamy body to bitter side with the perfect amount of great and full carbonation; it finishes of very, very long (actually well into the next beer I drank). first very flowery, turning into a long bitterness: first the very sweet smell of the inside of a Danish garden flower, that I don’t know the name of, this sweetness disappears slowly turning into a long complex, constantly changing never ending finish. Super, super beer only loosing a bit on its nose. Thanks a lot to Numenor for sending this one! xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Bottle from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, MI. Dark brown almost black color with small tan head. Aroma is some aged cherry, roasted malt, only slight coffee, medium hops, and smoke as it warms. Flavor is smoke, chocolate, very nutty, pine bitter, very nice. Hotly carbonated with medium body. Very nice flavor and aroma, I love how solid stone is yet being so inexpensive and accesible. The porter is subltley smoky as advertised. This
is a nice porter, however I don’t believe it is as complex
as say Fuller’s. Nice effort from Stone, however. Although
that is kinda redundant, as all of Stone’s products are very good.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Draft at Stone. A lot of smoked and roasted malt in the aroma. Decent mouthfeel. Good flavor but actually not as good as I remember it being a couple years ago. JaBier (1294), Capital City, Ohio, USA
