COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

Tasted on tap at Old Chicago’s in Denver, Colorado. Pours a deep black appearance with a fairly decent foamy brown head. Good roasty, charred BBQ flavor. Nice and smooth and a bit creamy like a porter, just awhile lot more flavor. Very easy drinking so it could appeal to people that tend to avoid smoked beers.

Almost pitch black pour with a foamy light brown head. Aromas are light chocolate and toasted malts. Flavor is very smooth and a bit creamy. Roasted malts, chocolate and a hint of coffee. This actually reminds me of a a beer in the realm of a dry stout. Nice beer.

On the train from Hereford to Inverness, bottle from BOE, 18/10/13. Faded black with a good sized light tan frothed up head. Nose is a little soapy, dark fruits, light smoke, hint medicinal. Taste comprises tangy dark fruits, dark malts, subtle smokey tones, faint soap. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finale with a litte roastyness. Passable but I expected a bit more from this one.

Bottled - Chris O shindig 2007 - A black beer with an off-white head. The aroma has hops and fruity malts but no smoke. The taste is very American hop and malt big bang. Good fruits and very drinkable but not sure I picked up smoked notes or porter notes.

Very smooth for a smoked porter, drinks real easy. Initial big head that dissipitates. Understated smoke in aroma. Deep rich chocolate malt, roast flavour taste. Well malted and not overhopped. Satisfying medium to full mouthfeel. Good porter. On tap at Pizza Plant Transit.

Dark bronw beer, faint ruby colour with a thick tan head. Light beechwood smokiness underlies a bittersweet chocolate aroma. Toasted malts are also apparent. Flavour is smokier than the aroma, a bit of chocolate malt, light sweetness in the middle with a long toasty and bitter finish. There is also a touch of hoppy aroma as well. A nice beer.

1 Pint bottle. Pours a pitch black with a small, creamy tan head. Initial taste is almost like pure cream or half&half. Pretty awesome lacing. Aroma is milk chocolate, water. Palate is moderate and smooth. Tastes are dark fruits, milk chocolate, cream, buttery toast, a hint of roasted malt, but I am missing the smoky parts. Aftertaste is quick and then disappears. Well balanced. Much better warm. A drinkable, smooth porter but not a knock-out.
