COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A rich, dark and delicious porter with chocolate and coffee overtones accented by a subtle smokiness from just the right amount of peat smoked malt. Unlike a rauchbier, the "smoke" in Stone Smoked Porter is an ELEMENT of the character rather than being THE character. -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing Co.

This is my favorite of all the Stone brews. It's smooth, a tad bitter, with just enough tang to make a good piece of chocolate taste really great.

This beer is above and beyond one of the all time best dark beers that you can have whenever and whatever still you prefer

Another one of Stoneís excellent beers. The smokiness is immediately noticeable, along with flavors like caramel, coffee and chocolate.

"Tastes like black" is usually what I tell my friends who ask about it. Pour is viscous with little head, scent and taste are very dark. The coffee, chocolate, and smoke blend together well without any part dominating. Delicious even in a bottle.

This is a dam good beer! I will be brewing it myself soon! aroma is sweet and smokey and it looks scary. The taste starts and ends with a slight smokiness. Nice job Stone!

This beer rocks. Looks just like the picture. The color is deep brown/amber...almost black with a consistent tan head. The taste is very roasty with only the tiniest smokiness you can think of. A suberb example of a porter and one, if not my favorite porter.

Had this on tap at DBA in NYC and was knocked out. I usually do not like any beer with the word "smoked" in the name, but ordered it cause it was the only Stone brew offered that day & it was simply amazing. Tasty as hell - without being "too" anything. Subtle waves of flavor!

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2007 This is an outstanding, ruich porter. Frnm a bottle it is deep, dark reddish brown, almost black, with a thick dark tan head and very good lacing. The flavour is smooth but rich, deep, and complex. There is a caramelly sweetness which combines with the bitterness, coffee-chocolate element, and faint smokiness wonderfully. The texture and palate are similarly smooth and rich.

Loved this beer. One of the lightest Porters I have tasted. Light malty nose with a hint of smoke. On the palate are flavors of toasted malt, dark chocolate with just a touch of smoke. I like that the smoke is light and really enhances the beer instead of becoming the only taste component. Dry and slightly bitter finish.
