From the "1 Pt. 6 Fl. Oz" bottle - Pours a thick black brew possessing a fine, lingering tan head and the rich arona of
caramel, cocoa, and bananas! The taste is a rich, malty one with peaty overtones and a sharp finish - I really like this beer!

Delicious and balanced roasted/smoky/chocolatey aroma. I daresay the flavors are perfectly balanced as well, with a nice roasted malt flavor that goes down smooth and doesn't finish tasting burnt. Rather it leaves you with a nice sweet taste in your mouth that asks for more. The larger bottles are a great serving size for these situations. Diagnosis: delicious.

Very nice beer. Dark and rich, looks and tastes like a Murphy’s with a hint of smokiness and a few other flavors. Not bitter at all.

You can certainly smell this one from several feet away. The aroma is mouthwateringly perfect with strong milk chocolate, black liquorice, dark fruit, fresh brewed coffee, and slight caramel. Pours a dark brown with a nice two finger tan head. Taste is bold and deep, with dark chocolate, black liquorice, strong roasted malts, and a very nice dark fruit finish. There is a definite smokey taste and aroma. But unlike most other smoked beers, it’s not upfront or overpowering. Very nice, creamy palate that is balanced perfectly. Overall I would have to say this is the gold standard for smoked porters. Absolutely one of the best porters on the market!

At the stone brewery on tap. Pours blank with long lasting tan head. Aroma of smoke with burnt coffee and chocolate. A subtle bitterness throughout No smoke flavor with hints of coffee. High carbonation.

Pours a lovely head. Smokey chocolate aroma. Perfect amount of smokiness (I hate beers that taste like bacon). One of their best offerings!

Re-Rate 01/05/02: Deep dark brown, generous beige head and sheets of lace. Nose is malt, lightly smoked, caramel, and the front begins sweet, the top is full, the finish is dry, acidic, nicely hopped and the abv warms the ’Belly’. My favorite of all the smoked beers, and ranks in the top 5 on my master list of porters.
Re-Rate 09/30/02: As deep as garnet gets, before we call it brown, the head is ’Chocolate’, frothy, long lasting, the lace clings in thick sheets till the very bottom of the glass. Nose is deep malt, lightly smoked, sweet, caramel, and even a hint of coffee. Front is sweet malt, the top is medium to full, the finish is of course ’Smokey’, nicely hopped, light to moderate carbonation, dry, and a nice long lasting bitter after taste. Call me a ’Stone-o-phile’, but I like the over the top hops, high abv’s, big malts and that robustness, only found in a few brewers beers, such as ’Alesmith’. Ranks #39 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Another great beer from the stoners. I never knew porter could be smoked, but a brewery named stone could probably do it.

Dark, rich, creamy, these are all good characteristics of this beer. This bark brown colored brew with a brownish head has lot of complexities in it’s smell. But thr taste is where I found myself being amazed, the malt and hops blend, the smoky after taste and the hint of toffee and chocolate make this a good smoked porter.
